Any Interviews from Detroit Mercy yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ive heard (from 3 people lol) that the chances of getting into mercy are high for those with pre-dec interviews any truth to this?

Yes
If your interview is very good, there is a high chance of acceptance

For people that have got interviews at Detroit Mercy, does your letter say who you are interviewing with?

I dont think so
But if you call and ask them, they will be happy to tell you

I'm trying to book a flight now, but i haven't received the letter which probably shows the interview day timeline/schedule. Does anyone know what time the program starts and ends? If I book a flight to leave detroit metropoiltan airport at 7:40pm is it too early/late/ok?

When you call them, they will schedule an interview appointment
The tour is usually noon to 1pm
So it depends if you have the interview before or after the tour
But the campus is only about 25 mins away from DTW
You can have an earlier flight, to be on the safe side 5pm should be good
The best way is to have the interview schedule first

For those of you who interviewed at Detroit Mercy so far, how was your experience?

I'll let you know on Thursday! But from what I've heard most of the professors there are really laid back, so the interview should be pretty relaxed.

There are basically two possible interview settings
One is regular interview in the office, one-on-one interview
The other one is if the doctor is in the clinic, this one will usually take a bit longer
Interview are so comfortable, I have not heard anybody saying otherwise
Good Luck!

What kinds of questions do they ask, just the generic stuff? Noone has added any to the interview feedback page since 2010.

I wasn't asked too many questions. We just talked about random things that came up. Its really laid back and the profs are very friendly and nice. Good luck!

I had mine today at 2. It was really more of a conversation than an interview, with most of the questions he asked coming from whatever we happened to be talking to. The professor was really nice, and the school is beautiful.

My AADSAS status for UDM changed to "Please check back on December 1 for more information regarding your decision status with this school" today...I have a bad feeling about this🙁. Anyone else have this status or have any insight on if this probably means I'm rejected since they didn't extend me an interview?

i think that that's what it is. when i got a rejection from UCSF. My status was updated to 'come back on dec 1' . 🙁

mine for DM is not even on AADSAS link yet. Pretty crazy

I got an interview at UDM by mail today =D. I submitted around Sept 19ish?

Did any of you guys attend the open house at Detroit mercy? How did you like the school? what are your thoughts about udm?

Dentaljedi, I know you had interviews at many schools. How did you see Detroit Mercy in comparison to other schools you interviewed at?

UDM was awesome. The clinic is amazing and all the facilities are in pristine condition. They even have an entire floor just for student recreation. The only school I've seen as nice as UDM is Midwestern AZ, but UDM is much cheaper. Out of all the schools I've been to I would have to say UDM is my top choice.

My only concern is all the specialty programs they have, and that they might take interesting cases away from D3 and D4s. But UDM grads have a very good reputation for clinical skills so they must be getting enough, especially with the huge volume of patients. The people there were all great too.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I loved the school too. Just don't like the area. But you can't have everything. I hope we hear some good news on Dec 1. :highfive:

Detroit as a whole is a great city. Some areas are definitely not very nice though (such as the place UDM is). But there are a lot of nice areas surrounding the school, I think most students do that. This was my first interview though so I've already been waiting a month to hear from them, I'm getting very antsy.

But I'm curious now, why does your profile say psychologist?

I did a M.S. degree in psychology first. Then decided I wanted to go into dentistry. Never changed my status though.
