Hi, Melissa. Most people in our class live off of Alexander drive or Stephen's Creek. Tons of students are in Master's Glen and Stephens Creek Commons. I'm actually moving into Stephens Creek Commons in May after having lived on campus for 1 year (Don't Live on Campus!) 😀

Just curious, but why wouldn't you live on campus? It seems like a very reasonable option. Thanks.

I think I've PM'd most of you by now and hopefully I'll be attending in 2008 with my wife, 3 kids, and my ancient 33 year old self!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have a way to go, but I'm still movin'. I took physics this past spring and this summer I will be taking Gen Chem. What were your stats? Was this your first time applying? Only school? Are you just like me, wishing that MCG was in ATL, so you wouldn't have to move to Augusta (where?)

My stats weren't that impressive, I had to take post-bac to bring up my GPA, and no, I got accepted on my 2nd try. So, don't ever give up hope. You'll be just fine. Don't we all wish MCG was in ATL!!!!! Augusta is REALLY slow, but may be that's a good thing. I'll have to see, I'm sure Augusta can be fun, too...right? I do hate the fact that I have to move away from my little comfort zone here in ATL. Hopefully, Augusta will treat me well. Will have to see.

Good luck! 👍

You mentioned that your stats were not stellar. What were some strong points in your app. which led them to accept you?

Melissa,

I heard from people that Master's Glen apartment community is really nice (one of the few ones with gated entrance), and they offer discounts to MCG students. So you should check them out. Also, there are many MCG students living there, that you may able to car pool and save on gas and mileage. Just a thought.

Congratulations on your acceptance...I guess I'll see you in August. 🙂

i've pm'ed you....check your private message. I don't think we should take up this space for this.

Hey all,

I'm a bit new to the MCG thread, but I've heard a few people mention the Master's Glen and Stephen's Creek communities. Where exactly are these communities (distance from main campus, road location, etc)? I haven't been able to find a website or a phone number connected to them. I would appreciate your input. Thanks!

(ps) YAY MCG class of 2010!

that mandatory orientation is approaching!!! I'm pretty excited...i've had an entire year off and am ready to back to school, if you can believe that! I was looking into bradford pointe, westbury creek, and master's glen. I have 2 dogs, so i have to go somewhere that accepts dogs. Master's glen is my top choice, but it is a bit pricey 🙁

i'll be in augusta late june to make a final decision!!

MCG c/o 2010!!!!! 🙂

congrats on joining us at mcg. you can pm me or email at [email protected] if you want my opinion on anything. i lived at an apt off stevens creek for 3 months until we found our house in evans. at stvns creek, i could leave at 7:15 for the 8:00 start and still get a good parking space (i'm a morning person anyway). and i'm old (35). our daughter was born 1.5 weeks before orientation last year. so i can also give feedback on being old and having kids.

overall, i think you guys will really like it here. there is a real sense of students helping each other out (there are yahoo groups where people will post study guides, etc).

anyway, i'm not much good on where to live but feel free to email me or pm on classes, books, etc....
greg

ps. don't buy a clemente dissector! heck, i'll sell you mine for a beer if you must have one! you only "need" ("need" may be too strong) one for your group and 1/2 way through the semester you won't be using it anyway! the videos off the library site are more useful.

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie on SDN, just starting my pre-reqs for d-school. I posted here because I'm interested in MCG and haven't seen many posts from people who are going here.

I got my bachelor's degree seven years ago and have been working in communications ever since. I have a great job, but am unfulfilled and unchallenged, so after some exploration I have decided to go the route of dentistry. It's great to see so many non-trad students here. I will be 32 or 33 by the time I start d-school (if all goes well) :luck:. I'm looking at MCG and I'm very interested in this school.

I know you have to be a GA resident to be accepted. Luckily, my husband and I are planning a move to GA in the near future (which will be well before I apply).

Any advice for me as I set out on this long journey? I'd love to hear from some of you who manage to juggle spouse, kids, home life, school work and everything else! How do you make it all happen?

Congrats to everyone who is starting this fall!

Sorry, posted this in other threads but I just got off the waitlist and am looking to see if anyone needs another roommate. Im a 22 yo male, non-smoker, love sports, quiet when need be...Just email me at [email protected].

i haven't been accepted to MCG yet, but i applied last year and will be applying again this year. the people at the school overall are helpful and friendly. the area has it's good spots and bad, but there are plenty of people at the school, both faculty and students, who have families and kids and will let you know the best schools for your kids, neighborhoods, etc. MCG only accepts Ga residents and i'm not sure how long you have to live there to be a resident. maybe a year? you could call them and ask. Right now the number of applications is going up very quickly and alot of the spots are filled every year by second and third year applicants, so in the event you don't get your first try don't give up! call the admissions office and get an appointment to talk about your application and what you need to do to make it better. they'll work with you and appreciate your efforts. so far that's all i know, but good luck!
