I've been out of undergrad for about 4 years. I've spent that time working in research at Hopkins and volunteering for various organizations. My research has produced a few publications and I have gotten to know quite a few professors, including one head of a department. I am confident I can get good letters of recommendation from them. I'm only saying this for posterity and so that the best possible answers or suggestions can be made.

I'm going to apply to some DO schools this year as well as MD. I have a good grasp of the DO application process except for the LOR aspect, and the schools I am interested in do not go in to much detail. I know everyone says to use Interfolio but this process is already expensive enough and I do not like the lack of control.

I am thinking of asking my letter writers to just give me a copy for DO schools so that I can distribute the letters myself. Either way, they will all be mailed from the post office inside Hopkins. I know I'll probably get a slew of responses from over-anxious and paranoid pre-meds telling me it would be application suicide but are there any matriculated DO students that have done something similar? Thank you for any help you can give.

Sorry, accidentally posted in school-specific.

I contacted my undergrad institution and got a pre-health committee letter
