Sorry if this is duplicate... I searched, but didn't find anything similar.

Any NPs (FNP, to be specific), out there in SDN land working in NYC? I have and continue to be interested in community health, and want to work in an urban community health clinic.

How did you go about getting a job? Did you submit your resume to every clinic out there, use service corps, ect?

I'm posting on SDN instead of allnurses, so perhaps physicians or PAs might also have some advice..

Thanks

nyc is a tight market for pa's and np's as many folks want to work there and there are lots of programs churning folks out left and right. a good friend of mine is a critical care/surg pa with mad skills and huge talent. on the west coast he would easily make 150k+. in nyc he makes 80k after 10 yrs at the same place....there are jobs but expect to get low balled as there are folks who will take an entry level job there for 50-60k just to stay in the city. good luck. check advancedpracticejobs.com they may have something.

I interviewed at a hospital in NYC(Maimonides) and the ER there offered me half as much to see twice as many patients. Benefits were also WORSE as well. I wouldn't work in NYC as a midlevel.

Syracuse and Catskills areas pay well though if your interested in that.
