Any one applied last year from Berkeley?

I need help. I took Chem 1A/3A/3AL/3B/3BL/MCB102 What types did you assign to these classes for ACCOMAS. "IIIOOO" or something else. Thank you! What do you have to do to convince the AACOMAS to allow you to enter "IIIOOO" if that's the case. Thank you every much.

chem 1a and 3a and 3al are your general chemistry requirements.
chem 3b, 3bl and MCB 102 counts as you ochem requirement.

i didn't really have a problem with it, although one school did ask me about it. i think on the career center site there is a question about this specifically. http://career.berkeley.edu/Health/MedFAQ4.stm

i don't really know what IIIOOO is, but i hope that helps. oh if you are applying to MD schools, it's the same format

Hey, alabee, thank you so much for your help, did you apply to DO last year? The "I" stands for Inorganic, "O" stands for "Organic" when entering the chemistry class type in ACCOMAS. Since chem 3AL is named "Organic chem lab" they want to lost 3A/3AL and 3B/3BL as organic, and list 102 as bio chem. How did you assign the type to these classes?
By the way which school are you in right now?

Inorganic should be Chem 1A, 3A, and 3AL. 3A's title should be Chemical Structure and Reactivity and 3AL's can be called 3A lab. That leaves MCB 102 and Chem 3B and 3BL for organic. This way you can have 9 semester credits for both inorganic and organic. (I actually didn't list it this way. I listed 3AL as ochem lab and now it makes sense that a school said I was insufficient for GChem by one credit because I only had 7 units listed...hehe. I actually listed MCB 102 as biochem too actually. It's strange that other schools didn't pick this up. I know the way I said it should be is how I entered it on the AAMC applications.) Does AACOMAS prevent you from listing it this way?


I just applied this cycle, but I applied late- I don't think I had my primary in until roughly December so it's good you are starting early. Feel free to ask other questions and I'll try the best I can to help you. I am pretty sure I am going to AZCOM but I am really swayed by ATSU-SOMA. Which schools are you considering?

I will try to list 9 unit Inorganic and 9 unit Ochem and see if ACCOMAS will change it back. I am willing to goto Turo CA and Western for I can not get into any MD program. I would like to stay in California but based on my stats I will have little chance to get in any UC medical school I think. Are you from AZ? Have you get accepted yet? 👎 Please don't use DO schools as a backup . . . they will see right through you and will not take kindly to it.

Actually I do like DO's philosophy except I am not sure yet how much bias out there against DO. I will try to talk to some DOs in the next few month. I may end up choose DO in California over some MDs in the undesired locations.
