any one who completed their CBT part 1 exam in march, april, or may 2005, please post ur
experiences. any thing about the level of difficulty, new questions, unusual pattern, scores, i am planning to give the exam in may and info would be really helpful
thanks :luck: 😀

hi
i took part 1 nbde on march 29th. a countable few ( or i can say-hardly any ) questions were repeated unlike what i had heard from my frndz who had taken paperbased-atleast 25-30% repeat questions in paperbased). but do solve the old question papers, since u can never say, whats in store for u. may be u can expect something similar to old questions. get perpect ( word to word ) with dental decks if thats what u r reading. if u r thorough with dental decks and have solved question papers altleast thrice, then i think there shouldnt be any problem getting a good score. glance old papers once before the day of ur exam.u can expect ur score in less than 10days. anyway all the best!

hey whats ure score.. manu_sk

hi manu,

ur score please and the material read,
thanks 😍

i got an average of 82. my average went bad coz of physio-biochem.thats the worst i have scored. i always had problems with this subject.otherwise my scores in the other subjects are in 85's. i studied decks, kaplan and solved Q papers. anyway ,i'm confused bout my admission. i have lost all hopes. one of my frnd who scored 88 was rejected from most of the colleges, even upen.
do i stand a chance.plz comment. my GPA is 3.41 and my toefl score is 260 CBT. i have worked during my dental program under one of my professors as a dental assistant( for almost 5yrs) and after i graduated, i worked for an year under another professor. and now i'm going to a dental office as a observer. i have good sports record and have participated in a lot of extra curricular activies. keeping all this in mind, do u think i stand a chance anywhere.

Hi manu_sk

Please cosider retaking Part 1. Everyone in the forum of late seen me saying this again and again. But I am speaking from my experience and mistake. So please consider an early attempt when the subjects are still fresh in your memory. However good is your other achievements you will get nowhere with a score of 82 in Part 1. Sorry for being blunt.

Good luck

rahmed

hi rahmed
thanx for the advice. but the thing is, i have real problems in biochem and i can do no better than this. so i dont wana take a chance since i'm scared i might score worst than this in this subject or even loose it.thats the only reason i dont wana retake. what if i take part2 instead of retaking part1. wont i be better off. do u think i wont be considered even in UPEN or NYU with this score and with all that experience i have.and i'm very confident that my professors have definitely written very good things bout me,including my dean.my GPA is fair enough-3.41 and toefl 260.wont all this help.i'm really lost. no light anywhere is it.but seriously speaking, no confidence on retaking...
whats ur score. r u in any school....do tell me..
takecare

Hey manu,
up till even last year i would have said that you stood a chance at NYU becasue they were known to accept people in the low 80'
s..but this year things have changed A LOT at NYU..
They received 900 applications for 125 seats this year which is up almost 300 percent they told me...and as far as I know i'm the only one wiht a score as low as mine (i got an 84) who has even been called for an interview let alone given admission!...and my interview also seems like it's one of the last ones they will be conducting because they told me that interviews would end at the end of april (i'm scheduled for may 16th however.)...so yeah taking it again seems like the only way to go about it..i know i't s a nightmare to even start thinking about studyign for it again...but sometimes that what u gotta do..i 'm pretty sure i'll start preparing for it again after the interview at NYU becasue i dont htink i' stand much there (waitlist perhaps).
That's my advice manu..sorry for the bad news..but this field is not as easy to get into as it once seemed when u started dental school..i have to come to realize this the hard way.

hey i second rahmed and khurram.. with 82 ure not going to get in any where ... considering the competition these days.. sorry for being sooo blunt.
biochem is difficult ... u will have to work on it . study again.. use a text book to read so that it clears ure basics.. nothing is impossible once u set ure mind to it.
a friend of mine with excellent credentials and 90 and 87 in part 1 ans 2 , research , presentations , u name it .. she ahs it on her resume.. dint make it anywhere... except NYU....
the competition is very very stiff.... u need to improve ure score.. just being honest , no point in givng u false hope that leads to u wasting a year.. u stilll have time.. start studying again while the subjectsa restill fresh in ure mind... and improve uer score....
its not impossible......
all the experiance that u have is good .. casue it will help u in the future ... but while applying part 1 score is given max weightage is most schools...
another thign ... ureexperiance is usually what u do after completion of dental school.. i.e. ure internship.. while ure in training.... ure experinace is only to better ure skills... thats what i was told....
all the best..
