Hello out there! 🙂

I was wondering if any other URMs out there are in my position. I'm a Hispanic female who is applying to medical schools this cycle- however, last year in school I had to withdraw early due to a chronic medical condition. I've done all my pre-reqs already, took my MCAT, and have a pretty solid cGPA and sGPA, but I'm scared of how ad-coms will look at my application (I wrote about the condition on my AMCAS application to explain why I withdrew from school).

Do you guys think that I made a mistake by pointing the medical condition out on my AMCAS (and that I'm pretty much doomed?)? Looking at previous threads on SDN has made me really paranoid about having mentioned this in my app. 🙁

I mentioned a chronic medical condition and I've done well. Just be sure to make it clear that the condition is under control and won't significantly restrict your ability to get through medical school. I made my condition a major part of my narrative as an applicant and I haven't perceived any bias because of it.

Good luck! Hope you're fully recovered 🙂

By any chance, have they asked you about your condition at any med school interviews? I'm just worried that it might come up in an interview and I might answer the question "incorrectly".... therefore hindering my chances at any school. 🙁

Yes, its been discussed at every interview I've had so far, but not in a threatening way. They just wanted to see how it impacted my decision to pursue medicine.
