Really fascinated by pediatric endocrinology, especially in terms of sex/gender identification, hormones, and helping kids to figure out the necessary steps to take towards choosing the right path whether that be to go puberty inhibitors or not to. Also, interested with dealing with families who are struggling with transgender children.

Any pediatric endocrinologists out there who can chime in on this subject matter? Is it rewarding (it seems like it would be)?

How does one shadow a peds, and a peds specialist? I would imagine peds is a specialty that you can't really shadow as a pre-med?

You can shadow in peds. You just have to find someone who will let you--which is the difficult part regardless of whether you want to shadow in peds or something else.

I would start with someone you have connections with. Maybe your family doc or own pediatrician would be a good place to start, or a friend's parent who is a physician. See if they'd allow shadowing, or if they know someone who would allow it. If you are near a university/medical school/teaching hospital then they also may allow you to shadow as well, though there will be a few hoops to jump through.
