Hello All!
This question is for all you pharmacists and student pharmacists from Illinois.

I have been selected to do a summer internship in IL this summer and would like to get some intern hours for the time I am there. I would like to register as a pharmacy intern in IL like I have done in KY (where I go to Pharmacy school) but so far my attempts to find any information have not been fruitful. I went to the IL Board of Pharmacy website: ((http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/WHO/phar.asp)

but I could not find the information I was looking for there. They did not even have 'pharmacy intern' listed under the types of liscences issued. Pharmacy Assistant was the only thing that came even close, but that does not sound right does it?
Am I looking in the wrong place? I just need to find a website with the forms I need to fill out and also tells me the process of getting liscenced there.
Let me know how intern liscensing works in Illinois.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance!
Lihini :)

There is no such thing as a pharmacy intern license in Illinois, and so, you'll have to get a pharm tech license.

wow !! I was worried that might be the reason why I could not find it. So do pharma students not need to register with the Board in order to get the hours for roataions and clerkships that is needed for lisencing. thanks a lot!

For Illinois, all your required hours come from your rotations. All I know, at this point, you have to get something signed by the school before being licensed.
That being said, they are planning on adding the pharmacy intern license with the passage of the new practice act.

You do have to be registered as a technician in order to be an "intern" in Illinois.
