High school. Max height: 13' 6"

I was on track in highschool and I always wanted to pole vault. The problem was Georgia schools didn't let girls pole vault until the year after I graduated because they were somehow convinced that it would tear your uterus when you jumped. It was such crap.

i pole vaulted in highschool too. my pr was only 12 feet! how pathetic is that...but to my defense, im only about 5'6'' 136 lbs, so in terms of physics, i dont necessarily have a god-given vaulters body.

true story: during my senior year, i was practicing with a pole that was really flexible, and in the middle of a vault, the pole snapped in two and i fell on my shoulderblades on the runway. it completely freaked me out and after that i was never the same. i actually ended up quitting mid-season because i was too terrified to pole vault anymore!

nope but how about runners? any of you? I'm a life-long runner, not fast but I do distance 🙂 last race was an 8k in Philly last month

I'm a runner- tried pole vaulting in HS, but ended up triple jumping instead. I do mid-distance, and XC in the fall

Yep. Vaulted freshman and sophomore year of HS. I think Phleebie would've beat me, though.... I was in a super lame conference and just qualifying at the starting height was sometimes good enough to place.

My story is that I once landed in the pit kinda funny and ended up slicing my thigh with my spikes... Wasn't deep enough to need stiches, but it was plenty long and bloody.

I ran in HS and college (XC and distance track)...tried pole vault once in high school. Ended up going under the bar and opening my eyes just in time to see it fall on my forehead. Took me awhile to live that down...
