I'm wondering if anyone has any good working knowledge of clinical PhD programs that really value clinical experience? I've got some research experience working in a private children's mental health clinic, but I've really done a lot more clinical work. I would like to go to a slightly more research-oriented program, but realize I'm lacking solid undergrad research experience.
I'm not interested in switching to a true RA job, and I don't intend to put off applying this fall to do so. I'm not really interested in PsyD programs, and I'm not looking to hear advice that I ought to look up the schools that are listed as 5 and below on the scale of orientation in the Insider's Guide to Gruduate Programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. I'm well-versed in the information the book gives on orientation- I am looking for anyone who really knows of any programs that value research experience, in the US or Canada.
Any ideas? Sometimes you don't think of applying to a school until someone mentions it, I'm hoping some of the SDNers will have a suggestions I hadn't thought of yet. Thanks!
