Hello everyone, I've been lurking around and am still pretty unsure about what I want to do in healthcare. I feel like I would enjoy PT more than PA or nursing but for my undergrad degree I want to pursue Medical Lab Science in case PT school's keep rejecting me, I would still work on my observation hours and prereqs but I just want to have something to fall back on and being an MT seems like a good stepping stone career. So are any PT's here former MTs? I usually only hear about PAs who were former MTs but never PTs, any thoughts on this?

My mother is an MT. It is a very stable, manageable stress career. I believe many starting out do overnights. If you enjoy lab work then go for it. You're being very very smart not selecting a skeleton degree for professional school (i.e. kinesiology). Intuition tells me that the transition to PA is more likely because of prerecs and diagnosing disease. Both are incredibly different, but pt is more different than mt. That being said, before I was accepted this cycle I was completing a bio degree with a eye towards industry first or picking up secondary school science teaching if jobs weren't available and pt was out of reach. Your decision is good, just make sure you like and can tolerate the workday if it isn't the ideal career for you.
