Does anyone know of any schools where if you get an interview your chances are extremely high to be accepted by default?...like a 75%+ chance

is Maryland on that list, i didnt see it anywhere?

nope, maryland, upenn, and midwestern were not in the list. Its from the ADEA guide to dental school. all those schools had a N/A.

oh wierd, on predents year to year its been around 65-75% interviewed and accepted, which looks pretty high...i was wondering if that is at all close to the real # (cause after all its just predents people)

Predents kids are generally smarter than average w/ better scores than average..

Very few schools are 75%+ for interviews, there are a bunch that are around 65% though. Assuming out-of-state, based on that chart, the over 75% schools are:

NYU, UoP, Tennessee, Howard, Oregon.

Yeah I heard for UOP pre dec 1st if you get an interview the only way not to get accepted is if you mess it up...basically show them that you are personable and that you are the person on paper and your future is in your hands.

ucsf 99/106 instate according to adea official guide to dental school

93%

no...i think he meant UCLA is 99/106. UCSF instate is something like 100/150...66%. but the # of acceptance is always higher than the # of seats because ppl that are accepted don't always choose the school.

Iowa has 65%

Out of State
79 Interviewed
52 Accepted

"Out-of-state" for LSU means neighboring states that they have agreements with, similar to the "WICHE" concept. I believe all or most of those 11 people came from Arkansas, because LSU has an agreement with that state.

This is true and is similar for many of the schools, we cant particularly get more accurate without a ton of work going through each school slowly. But this would be the case for a ton of schools as they have pacts with certain states.

uconn 35 interviewed 35 accepted (in state that is)

So for the schools with good ratios (NYU in particular), how well do you guys think we need to do on the interview? I heard that they ask specific questions about everything in your app. Do we just have to not completely blow it? Or should I be really stressed for it?

I'm confused.

On UOP, when you check your application status, at the bottom of the page it says:

[SIZE=-1]Students selected by our admissions committee are invited to the dental school for an interview. (We anticipate 300 students will be interviewed for the 140 seats in the class of 2010.)

The other thread that shows the schools with their interview/acceptance ratio says that UOP is 1.0. I highly doubt that UOP accepts 160 extra students and/or that 160 students turn down Pacific. So maybe they're putting more emphasis on the interviews this year? What's the deal? Anyone know?

I believe they just gave a maximum number. I heard they said they'd interview about 250 last year, but ended up inviting fewer.
Anyways, I think that it's more like "Pre-Dec.1st interview at UoP = Acceptance."

Last time I talked to admissions they said that about 80% of people accepted end up attending, so you can safely assume around 190 acceptances are sent out.

Armoshell, so when are the next UOP interviews coming out? Tell us some of your secrets... You will be LOVED by SDNers. Lol

NOVA is pretty good about accepting people if they interview you, remember alot of people will choose other cheaper schools, over schools like NOVA, NYU, etc. So your chances of getting in are actually pretty high if they interview you. I think NOVA interviews 300 people, for 105 spots. And as i said they have movement on their waitlists, especially 45 days after December 1st, when people are kinda forced to make a decision or at least put a deposit down.
