I'm stressing out because I waited until I took the august mcat to fill out my secondaries. I am applying to over 30 schools and have 20 secondaries undone. I just realized that the secondaries for Jefferson was due two weeks ago (2 weeks after the secondary was sent to me).

My question: are there any other schools that have this weird policy that applicants return secondaries back to the schools within 2 weeks? I know Jefferson is one. Any others?

Wash U gives you 4 weeks. I think Northwestern gives you 1 but I don't know for sure because I didn't apply there.

Loyola has a strict deadline too. UCSD, UCD, UCI all give one month. Wake Forest gives three weeks. Northwestern is one week, with three essays. Most of the other ones I've applied to has a generic deadline for everyone.

Miami, Wake Forest, VCU have deadlines of 2 weeks that I can remember. I think if you go over their deadline, they'll probably be forgiving if you give them a call.

I think its at the webpage for the secondary, and not mentioned in the email. But its true, only two weeks. If passed, give em a call. My friend got an extension, but he was only two days late. Good luck.

I just submitted the secondary, and I didn't see anything on the webpage about a deadline--and I did look. It accepted my online secondary (and my $80) just fine, although I initially received an e-mail from them inviting me to complete the secondary 7/28/04. Does this mean my app won't be processed? I guess I'll have to call them tomorrow. If they have such a strict deadline, why on earth would they keep it such a secret? I looked in the e-mail they sent me, the admissions brochure, and their website, and couldn't find anything about this; and if it's on the secondary webpage itself, I sure didn't see it. 😕

i just started receiving my first secondaries this week, and i'm going to hawaii this friday and coming back next friday. I didn't even realize that my secondaries would have a deadline! now i'm worried that I'll be filling out secondaries in the hotel room!

Could you post the link to the page where this information is located? I got my secondary July 20, and I didn't get it in till last week. They took my money, that's for sure!

Sorry, no luck in trying to locate it because logging into the application status page just tells me i've submitted my secondary. But if they took your money, you should be okay.

seriously, where are you guys finding the information that some secondaries have immediate deadlines (within 2 weeks)??? I haven't seen anything pertaining to this information for any medical college.

MSUCHM has a two week deadline.

Northwestern has a one week deadline.

Other than that I don't know of any. But please keep posting these things. I'm scared that I'm just not reading that part of the emails cause half of those emails I just browsed. I'm the biggest procrastinator ever and without deadlines it's super hard to get me to do something.

Anyway, keep sharing the info!

I applied to Northwestern. They DO have strict deadlines. In fact, theirs is one of the toughest. The one week deadlines dissuades many from even completing the secondary.

Directly from the e-mail Miami sent me to fill out the secondary:

"To open your account and fill out a Supplemental Application for the University of Miami School of Medicine, go to:

You must do this within TWO WEEKS from the date of this message."

I'd say that's pretty strict.

Wayne State asks you to tell them if you're not going to submit it in a timely fashion

i cant imagine that a school that is interested in receiving supplemental information (and $$$) from you would be unwilling to give you leeway on application deadlines if you call or write to them. i actually just talked to miami today and asked if i could send in my secondary application even though it is past due. she said it was fine and to try to get it in asap, and if i had any more questions or problems to call them. if you really want to go to a school, dont let deadlines stand in your way! break into the dean of admission's office and demand that he/she read your supplemental essays and accept your $100 check.

That's funny because when I read the Miami e-mail, I interpreted the command quite differently. I thought they meant you needed to register within two weeks, not complete the secondary in two weeks.

Guys, I don't think there is any deadline for the secondary. In fact, if you go
here, it says that supporting docs, including the secondary are due Jan 1, 2005.

Hah, you know you might be right. I never even thought of it like that. It may be that there is no deadline for the secondary, but it is only for registration. It's kind of ambiguous though.
