Hey Guys -

I got a 215 on my Step 1 and am at a top 20 medical school in the US.

I want to match into an anesthesia program in Chicago - NU/Rush/UIC/UofC/Loyola.

Do you guys recommend an AI? Is it fairly hopeless?

Any other thoughts?

Do some aways. Show up on time, be involved mentally with every case, ask pertinent quesrions, read every night, do a call night if not required, and treat everyone you talk to with courtesy and respect. If you do these things, you'll help your case.

You will match into a chicago anesthesia program with your step and being from a top med school. I would try to rock your step 2 and do a second look at UIC-I've heard it goes a long way.

So is a higher step 2 score more important, or doing an away at where I want to be?

I feel like I am much better in the clinic, and tend to make good impressions, so I am not worried about that aspect.

Also, I hear many schools have a cut off regarding interviews at a step 1 score of 220. Is there anything to do about those programs - or just let them go.

also - is it better to do anesthesia aways at multiple schools? if i have time for it? then take my step 2 after interviewing?
