I just called today to the admissions office...they still haven't looked at my file! Geez! So I"m still on hold. They said the next time they're sending another wave of letters is Feb. 15.

The problem with Marquette is that they accpet 80 students a year 40 of them should be from Wisconsin and the other 40 students are from out of state..
Around 2000 apply a year less than 200 from Wisconsin and the othe 1800 are competing for 40 seats.

Plus, their crietria for admission is different than other schools..

Yeah, in 2003 it was 147 in state applicants for 40 seats...its not bad but not the best.. 😀

UMinn and UIowa has even better ratio for instate applicants.

what i'm confused about is why there are still like 1000 people on hold.. I mean if there are only 30 spots left or something you would think they could reject more people... not that i want to see people rejected but that i know for myself personally I'd rather just know and get it over with than have the false hope of being #900 on the waiting list...

As a WI resident I thought that this would work to my advantage...but I'm sitting here in February without even an interview invite from Marquette.

i am still on hold as far as i know (no rejection letter nor acceptance), but I've pretty much 100% decided to go to Case so, I'm not complaining. I'll probably call them up and withdraw soon so yall that are still waiting can have my chance 🙂

yea- as far as I know- I am on hold- I called them last week- they said that my file hasn't been reviewed yet. I found out today that I got accepted at UMich. So- I will be calling Marquette soon to withdraw.

When I called the admissions office a week and a half ago, the lady informed me that I am an alternate at this point. Can I go ahead and translate that to "We haven't looked at your file, but in order to make you feel better, we'll say that you're an alternate."

i know what you mean, I am from out of state but my application with them was complete in early june and I interviewed as soon as they started giving them out, and i have excellent stats but... somehow didn't get offered one of the 40 out state spots. sometimes you just don't know what schools are really looking for.
