What type of response are you talking about, like acceptances?
I got a letter specifically stating I am on hold till January 15, 2005 and that I would be notified by mail my status shortly after that date.

I called last week, and the secretary stated " that letters would be going out the 3rd week of january, post Jan 15 date.

3.3 and 19 DAT, but I am also a reapplicant, and Marquette waitlisted me there last year.

my states are alright 20 AA, but did 15 on Pat , i got good GPA but its from community colleege and i dont have a bachlour degree i am junior right now i dono i hate this i wish i had applied to more school do u guys think we have a chance why on hold??????????????????????????? this is stupiddddddddddd apperentaly they put a lot of people on hold!!! do u think marquette is a good school?

Hello, I have also applied to Marquette. I am also on hold pending my DAT scores which they have just received. Were you on hold because your application was incomplete (ie: like my DAT scores were not in)

I can tell you Marquette does look at more than stats b/c my friend and i who both applied there both have a 3.8+ and 20+ on DAT, and we were both put on hold. in fact my friend said his interviewer told him he has the best stats of all their applicants so far. but come dec. 1, guess what - on hold. the stats get you the interview, but once you're interviewed i think they are looking for a lot more than just great stats, experience, extracurrics, etc. i think they are extremely concerned about whether you are friendly/likable, energetic, and would "fit in" there. at least that seemed to be what most of my interview questions were geared towards finding out. Anyhow I guess next week should be interesting with many schools giving out their "second round" acceptances. good luck all 🙂

Arent you only supposed to have no more than 60 credits from a community college. If you're a junior and still in a CC (i.e mor than 60 cr), you probably will be ineligible...

So with my average stats, in reality I can expect to be put on HOLD at marquette? Somone posted here that they got Marquette waitlist last year with 3.3 GPA and 19 DAT, and i think biogirl posted her and her friend with 3.8 GPA and 20+ DATS (cant ask for much better) also were put on HOLD.

So with 2,100 applications received at Marquette, They seem to be putting about 2,000 on hold, accepting the rest, and rejecting none. WHat the heck is one supposed to think with Marquette and their ON HOLD party

exactly 🙁 From what I've heard on this board though, it seems that many aspects of dental school are a lot like high school, it's inevitable with such (relatively) small classes and numbers of faculty kept together for so much time 👎

I have to agree with HD, marquette's new school is really really cool.

Finally, this is just repeating what someone on the other marquette thread said, but he said he called marquette and they said out of 2000 applicants, approx. 100 accepted, 900 rejected, 1000 on hold. that's one long on hold list!

Hey amma777 Im in the same boat but im like a pre-HOLD student, My DAT scores just got to marquette, so I wont have the pleasure of being put on HOLD until the next round of letters.

QUESTION: If you said they are waiting until Jan 15 deposits, how many seats have they filled of their 100? I mean are they all full already?
if 70/100 ppl pay their deposits, then there are 30 seats left for 1000 HOLD students, going to the top 30 students on the HOLD list (top 3%) when you are talking top 3% we are most likely talking 3.9 GPA and 20-22 DATS, which leaves 97% of the HOLD list out of luck???

THis sounds pretty bad, but if you know anything else, like how many seats are full, how many will likely pay their deposit, and how round 2 works, I'd be glad to hear back from you

I am right now thinking screw Marquette. Even though I liked the city Milwaukee- but it's not worth my time right now to drive 8 hours to go to an interview then have a big chance of being on hold or rejected. I got an acceptance letter today from Case 🙂 My first interview and first acceptance! I'm so happy! WOOHOO!

If I am not mistaken Marqquette does not interview. I applied to them because they have started to do alot of research and I am in to that 😀 . my impression I get is yes scores mtter but I believe they want people who want to goto them specifically. thats my $.02 😀

yeah, my interview letter said that this is the first year they are doing interviews as a more normal part of the app process.

if you don't mind me asking why did you only apply to one school????? even people with 4.0's and 25 on the dat apply to at least a couple schools, because you can just never be sure with schools sometimes. with average stats most would recommend you apply to 5+ schools.

i am in my junior year !!!!!!! so when i took DAT in summer i didnt like my grade ( even though they were alright). then i talked to my counselour and he said 'Gamble' and apply and this was like october soo the only school that didnt need me to apply thorugh ADDASS was this school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i still sent appliccation to the Detroit but today i finished all the stuff i had to sent i see no chance there whatever !!!!!!!!!!!!the only reason one world is that so many peolpe told me that they prefer bachlor degree and i have not that much of chance i even called dental schools and told me that they prefer bachlor!!!!!!!!!!1 whatever , i hope u understand why now Bio girl😀😀😀 gooooooooood luck to u

I had called to ask if I was missing any materials because my info on infosource hadn't been updated since November 1. The woman I spoke to told me that with over 2,000 applicants it's just too much work to update.

I had an experience very much like that once when calling one of my schools (no names will be mentioned). don't you love it when people can't be polite on the phone 😡. to the school's credit though all the other times I called them they were really nice.

Marquette doesn't interview many students. I know it interviews wisconsin residents and some students from states like MI and IL

I got an interview, and I know that 2 kids in my interview group were from utah, so they don't just do nearby people. but i've also heard a few murmers of people knowing people that got in without an interview this year, or calling the school and being told some people could get in without an interview. I think only marquette really knows what marquette is up to over there this year 🙂.
