Can anyone tell me what the students are like in NECO?? I noticed that the students were really close in ICO, everyone were friends with eachother. When I went to NECO, EVERYTHING impressed me, except the people. It seemed more individualistic, spread out everywhere to me. Am I just making this up? Or is there some truth to it?

I'm very much of a people-person...so how the students are with one another are probably more important than however gorgeous the campus looks.

Any other thoughts on ICO and NECO are very much appreciated.

I interviewed at neco a few weeks ago and thought they were quite nice. I don't really know what you mean about spread out..it's just that one (beautiful) building and then the clinic..I guess the clinic is far but I kinda liked that. I used to live in Boston and really liked the atmosphere. That being said, I want to get into Berkeley and go there..but who knows with them. My roomate just told me that I got something from neco today so hopefully Ill get in there and it can be my backup 🙂 Overall I loved neco and wouldn't mind if I had to go there. Did you have a bad experience talking to the students or something??

what I mean is...I don't think they like eachother very much. They're all friendly, but I don't think the class are as close of friends as the admissions say they are.

Really? I thought it was awesome that they had social events like The Eye Ball, and the students giving the tour were interacting with classmates too

EVERY school has the eyeball..
ahhaa
perhaps it was MY tour group that seemed to not really interact with eachother... it's good to know that it's there.

Aww when I interviewed at NECO, I thought it was the opposite!! I actually went without any expectations and I left loving it. The people left a GREAT impression with me... maybe you just were there on an off day where the students were stressed or something?

I go to NECO and I'd say our classes are close. Obviously in a class of 100+ people no one can be friends with EVERYONE, but we all know each other pretty well. I would not say it's individualistic at all, everyone I know has a tight knit group of people that they can count on, me included. Were you there recently? Midterms start this week and everyone studies differently so maybe that's what you were seeing?

I am a first year at NECO as well and just as my colleague mentioned, not everyone can be super close friends. Everyone does get along very well with everyone else though. All the classes (1st to 3rd) interact on a daily basis and the majority of people are cool; you can't escape the odd person that you will clash with. There are social events going on all the time, we use birthdays as an excuse where we will go out to clubs or bars as one large, ambushing group. Then, once you get to know the people better, you will find closer friends that you spend more time with, but there will always be some reason for 40- 50 classmates to get together somewhere to have a good time.
If you saw that people were individualistic you might want to consider the thought that you will see your classmates day in and day out, sometimes seven days a week, and that sometime there aren't things to be said besides a simple hello and a smile. This doesn't mean that they don't get along.
NECO is good stuff👍

Then would anyone be able to explain to me why the pass rates for board exam amongst the lowest? I keep hearing NECO's got an awesome education system...yet nobody was able to tell me the exact number when I got there, except that they think "it's good" or they do "okay"...exact numbers on here say 67%...which is pretty bad....(if that is accurate)...

I don't know where you are getting the 67% from b/c it is definitely in the low 90's.

When I was on my interview, I asked the students we met with for lunch about the board rates and they said it is their main weak point. While they did not tell me the specific number, they did tell me it was lower than the national average.

I got the exact number from the SDN forum, and to be honest, low 90's is definitely inaccurate. The national average is about 70...so it's impossible for NECO to have over 90 if they are BELOW the national average..so 67% is actually about right. I'm talking about the first part of the NBEO exam..NOT later parts because those are not as difficult as the first. Second of all, every school that hit above 80% post it on their website and brochures...NECO is the only school that doesn't say anything about the exact stats anywhere..so they wouldn't leave that out as it would be a selling point. If it was indeed above 90's...then at least you would have an exact number...
