Completely frustrate yourself by trying to do a complicated origami pattern when you've never done origami before...pattern folding will suddenly seem so much easier. 😉

Especially if you watch Cannibal the Musical while drinking a margarita while doing the origami. Right MochaFreak? :meanie:

PS....I've still got that friggin' song stuck in my head BTW.

I always try, with the shaded and lined patterns, to figure whats adjacent to each other and eliminating the choices that don't match.

On the answers look at the front face or just chose a face you want to follow. Then find that face in the unfolded version. Then try to find its adjacent faces and see if they match the answer. Do this until you find answer. This method is a little slow at first but with practice it can be extremely fast.

Thanks! That helps!

Few rules based on plane/line of symmetry worth your attention:

1. Complementary vs Inverted Patterns

When turning/rotating a formed object at 180 deg, note the following fundamental rules:

Any pattern turned around the axis of rotation will turn into an inverted image; however,

the same pattern appearing on side(s) perpendicular to the axis of rotation will give rise to a complementary one.

2. 270 deg = -90 deg rule

When folding a flat pattern into a cube (especially) with various picture/figure on each side, instead of "twisting your neck & eyes three times", simply do so by reversing it with just one 90 deg shift. This will not only save you time but will more accurately relate each side to another when you eventually need to rotate the completed model one or several steps further.

You may want to get added help from DAT Achiever since all of their folded objects at the solution pages are rotatable. But right before you rotate each model, challenge yourself what pattern(s) lie behind those hidden faces. For those who may not know where to get this program from, you may click on the following link to download/install it to your study computer, with DEMO accessible up to 30 days:

If you want to contribute to the thread then, don't try to seel the product. If you want to advertise the product then pay to the SDN. I don;t know where mods are but they need to warn this guy or do something.

You don't fit to come in here, in view of your lack of integrity ... knowing only how to take things for granted and never have a sense of appreciation for what you may gain from ...

Few SDNers PM me from time to time for some tips on PAT and where to get DAT Achiever from. I'm just here to consolidate something useful for the sake of others. I don't own DAT Achiever. It's only a software worth the attention of those needing added help particularly in the area of PAT.

Why don't you guys make use of this opportunity to chip in more academic questions for good discussion instead of making unnecessary fuss here? 😕
