I think 500k+ depends on what city you work in and wheter you're in private practice or Academic doc. My grandma had a hip replacement surgery few years ago and her doctor was a private doc who made close to $million$ a year.

Does it really matter? Some drs make more, some less. The way I see it $200k a year still aint too shabby.

And yes some do make that much, but it comes with a price. Lots of post grad training, long and eratic working hours, lack of family/social life, and a huge risk for malpractice. But don't worry yet b/c its super competitive to get into that field anyway.

They are well compensated for a stressful job where all of their patients are at risk of harm. Plus they have 7+ years of training.
