Any UK med students out there planning to start preparing for USMLE Step 1?

Just wondering what year do most british med students that take the usmle step 1 do so? When are you taking it?

The few people that I know who have done the step 1 exam, did them after their 2nd year, while doing an intercalated BSc. Other than that, I guess people tend to do them after their 2nd year, during the 3rd year at med school.

Hey, sorry to reopen an old thread but thought might as well rather than start a new one.

I'm currently a first year student at Peninsula. I was advised to sit step 1 either during or just after 2nd year. Not sure if that's realistic considering my style of course but sure we'll see.

Just wondering (I've googled for a bit now) where on earth do we sit it? Are the test centres only in London? I've heard that you can sit the first 2 steps in the UK.

Does anyone know when we are supposed to apply...is it long before the test? Don't feel too confident asking my school and no-one seems to know here.
