I'm starting school in the fall and I have a big pile of kaplan and EK books in my room. should i just throw them out? I'm a little weird about throwing things away, if you know what I mean. I doubt that they have any resale value or any value for the new mcat, but..but you never know...

People are still taking the current MCAT until January.

I'm currently studying for the MCAT and I know a few friends who are as well . Once we're done with the MCAT we will all have a bonfire at a friends ranch and burn every last piece of anything related to the MCAT. It's worth more then the few bucks you make from reselling it .

You should do something similar .

You could donate the books. (and just burn the notes).

I have something against the whole burning books thing

Donate them to Goodwill or a used bookstore. Not everyone can afford new books. I'm sure there are plenty of people who will be going through old books and picking out the still-relevant topics.

cut out the middle man. I guarantee that no premeds will come across it at Goodwill... The best that will happen is that some bookseller buys it to sell himself. I would price it at a penny on Amazon (minimum shipping is 4$) and essentially donate it to whomever, assuming most aare going for 5-10 dollars.

I got a few from goodwill and one from a yard sale. Doing it online would be good, too. 🙂

I gave mine away to a friend of a friend, I got my money's worth 🙂

I lived on a popular street with lots of foot traffic. I left my all my old MCAT books on the curb for hopeful premeds to claim. I also added some gen chem and physics textbooks with accompanying solutions manuals.

It's a tough road. I hope somebody caught a break.

Sell on ebay or craigslist. You will still make money. Even if the MCAT changes somewhat, some parts are going to be very similar. It's not like physics is being replaced by psychology.

Might want to donate to a company that actually is a charity rather than goodwill.

Not sure which books you have, but check Amazon's trade-in section...I sent in my 5-book Kaplan set and got some $$ back. Not a ton, but more than I would have asked for selling to another premed.

But it is

They won't be worth much, but everything but physics is still applicable to the new exam unless I am mistaken, so I'd trash that one and sell the others. They will just need a new 2015 sociology and psychology mcat study book

A lot of the physics is still good for the 2015 MCAT. It is O-Chem that is being reduced in favor of Biochem. I am sure someone would appreciate it. Heck sell them on SDN.

Donate it to a nearby tutoring place so that high school kids read them and be motivated to pursue medical school.
