I just wondered if anybody on here attends the university of alabama, and if so what they thought about it. I'm looking at schools to transfer to and this is one that I'm considering.

I do. What do you need to know?

nothing real specific. just wondered what you thought about the school, what are things you like, dislike? would you recomend it someone? whats the average class size? just whatever you can tell me

Kind of a vague question, but yeah, I like it. Upper-level and honors science classes have about 20 people, but the required courses can be 150+ lectures. Pretty standard there. Tuscaloosa/Northport rates about a 5.5/10 for college towns, largely on account of having a crappy mall, but new shops are popping up all the time. The football and gymnastics are good, and the basketball program will be improving quickly. The newer dorms are some of the nicest I've seen, although parking can sometimes be a bitch. A brand new Biology building will be finished next fall to match the new Chemistry building, so everything should be all fresh and shiny.

For anything more specific, let me know.

I've lived in Tuscaloosa forever and go to UA so here's my .02: The campus is very nice, i've never had a problem dealing with any of the faculty or advisors. They are usually very nice and quick to deal with any problems that you may have. Campus can be a little crowded so I would advise not driving around it during the day if you can avoid, take the buses. ( There are still a lot of people who insist on trying to drive and it's just nuts) Like the person before me said, most of the class sizes are pretty average when you get into upper level classes and fairly large for the lower level sciences. I take a lot of my core social sciences/fine arts and classes like online to free up time to go to the lab. There really isn't a whole lot in Northport but Tuscaloosa has a lot of stuff goin on. Mellow Mushroom and Egans usually have good music during the week and Inisfree is one of the places I go on the weekends. We have a new outdoor shopping complex that just opened (Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, you know) so most stores are moving out of the aforementioned crappy mall. Housing is excellent you can find any range, my last apt was a 1b/1b for 300 a mo. It wasn't the Ritz or anything but it kept me warm. Average though is about 600/mo for 2b/2b and 500/mo for 1b/1b. Hope this helps and feel free to pm me if you have any more questions!

I agree with the assessment of things to do around here.

The school itself is great with lots of new dorms, and the faculty is really supportive for the most part.
