Is there any movement here? I haven't seen any new interview reviews for this year, and no comments on here yet - so I figured I would ask.

They just started interviewing this week, I believe. When I signed up the first available interview date was 11/28.

Does Drew invite people for interview via email?

I have my interview tomorrow. :scared:
The invite was emailed last week (Tuesday night) and I had several dates to choose from... but this past Monday was the first date available...
good luck!!!

I just received an email last week asking me to interview at Drew/UCLA. They said I would get something in the mail in 13-15 business days. Does anybody know how this goes? Do they just send you your date in the letter? Do they give you info and preset your itinerary in the letter?

Also, how do they accept people- rolling or not? It seems as if no one has posted that they have gotten in this year. On average, do you know how many people they accept? when do candidates usually get notification? I am from out of state - what do you think are my chances?

Finally, what was the hardest portion of the interview? How should I prepare for this?

Thanks so much......

When I was asked to interview, it consisted of sending back my availability on a word document, and they emailed back to confirm. It might be different now b/c my interview was over a month ago.

It is definitely rolling and they have already begun to accept people into this great program. The class size is 24 and applicant pool is usually over 2000, so it is screened well. You are in a good/great position if you have an interview (which is very stress-free and only by one faculty). At my interview, there was one student there that was out of state and there are definitely others. Remember that your first two years are at UCLA Geffen which is awesome and you get the same resources and the name Geffen as well as Drew on your diploma.

Good luck on your interview!!!

I am super excited - I received an email that said I was selected to interview, and that I would get a follow up email in 5-10 business days with more info. Crossing fingers - wish me luck!

Hey xxbruinxx,

The interview is very relaxed as I stated above (like most UC interviews). The only main difference is that there is just one faculty interview.

Drew was started to help the underserved. Make sure that you are able to express WHY you want to help the underserved (usually minorities) and what you plan to do in the future.

Have experiences on why you are passionate about helping the underserved (personal, work related, etc.). Read over the website well, understand the Drew philosophy.

Other general tips: Be enthusiastic about the opporunity! Be courteous to everyone that you meet!

Let me know if you have any other questions.
Good luck!

I received an invitation to interview on 11/23 i beliieve. My interview was on 11/29 and I was interviewed by two faculty members. I had a chance to talk to two medical students and the Dean of Drew University.
I actually have worked at Drew for three years so I was super excited to get an interview, espcially since I have interacted with patients already. I LOVE the program and would be super excited to get accepted (I am suppossed to hear by the end of January),
The interviews were not bad at all and pretty laid back. It's funny how I have already run into one of my interviewers in the OR 😛
Good Luck everyone!

Congrats! I haven't gotten mine yet. How did it come - email or regular mail? Do they give you an itinerary or just the date and a start time? If given, what does the itinerary look like?
Thanks...I am eagerly awaiting my own letter with a date.

Congrats on that interview again.

Remember that the Watts area is not the best (very poor area, shady, etc.) I for one like grimey areas, but for others they might feel uncomfortable. If these factors are important to you, I would suggest checking out hotels that are recommended by ppl that know LA better (not me).

It came via e-mail, and was very limited in what it said (as if they are on word rationing over there...)

It had a list of AMCAS ID #s, and then a date and a time. At the top was a building location. There was a short phrase at the top that said to allow 3-5 hours for the interview process, and that was all.

I am thinking of just flying down super early, interviewing, and flying home same day, but that will wrinkle my suit. Hmm... staying the night in a hotel just to avoid wrinkles though seems a bit ridiculous and indulgent.

haha, i would NOT stay in a hotel near willowbrook. Stay near the airport and rent a car. Your life is worth it.

i was invited for an interview on Jan. 13 via email.
it's now feb. 7...i've already called twice, the last time (last week Wed.), she told me i'd be receiving something via email...

a part of me is afraid that something's wrong....how long did it take you guys to receive the schedule?

Bruin...I am in the same situation as you. I received an email on Jan. 13 that said 15-20 business days as well. The 20th business day will be Friday. If I don't get something by then, I am going to call next monday.

As for anyone else who has gone on an interview, what is the day like? is there a group of applicants? a tour? or is just an interview? Thanks for any info you can provide. 😉

Not sure if it has changed
There is quitee a large group, 30-40 when I interviewed. You sit in these couches in a lounge and they have a huge breakfast set out for you that you can munch on throughout the day. They have a video about king drew that they show you, the usual finaid/curriclum talks, and then you're plucked out for your interview. People were broken off into small groups to tour the hospital. You have the option of touring UCLA campus later too.

I have a copy of the February interview schedule that they e-mailed me - if you PM me the last four digits of your AAMC ID, I can see if you are on there.

i just rec'd the schedule...i got it today (tuesday) for a saturday interview...kinda short notice, but whatev...

any tips come interview day?
