I can't seem to find any info on dilantin use in patients with acute hemorrhagic stroke and yet my attending states there is criteria out there in the universe somewhere.

Prophylactic prevention of seizures, but the evidence on this is unclear. Check out this link:

I am unsure of the guideline/criteria, probably follows either phenytoin or hemorrhagic stroke management criteria

funny because it led me to another article which showed the Cardio vs. Neuro perspective on this matter and your link says "preferably Dilantin" where as http://www.neurology.org/cgi/content/abstract/67/12_suppl_4/S3
states anything OTHER THAN phenytoin
there is a 7 year difference so maybe that has a role to play in the difference in opinions as well as the different specialities.
