Just curious. How do you handle dental school while being a parent? How and when do you study? How do you support your family financially while in school? I am thinking of applying to dental school, just don't know if it will work with 3 kids, 2 of which are under 5.

That's a tough one. I know a few guys in our class who have stay at home wives and do this, but then again the whole battle of the sexes thing. Financially I think they are all on welfare and welfare based health care, which is morally questionable to some, but I guess if you plan on becoming a dentist and paying it back in your taxes...maybe? Good luck to you, anything is possible as far as the balancing act is concerned. I guess it's just all about time management and keeping the little things in perspective.

There have been ladies in my school with 3 and 4 kids in my school year before me. Wonderful thing is: they all passed all classes and graduated on time or even early. While some people are single and struggle to meet requirements. I know they all have to commute like an hour to get to school too. So, they are determined to work hard. You know it's all possible if you want it bad enough

Thanks so much guys! I guess with determination, anything is possible. It is quite scary, but I can't imagine not pursuing my dream.

I have two kids and it is all about time management. If you want to go to dental school do it. It just takes focus.

There are 2 girls in my class that each have young children and another who has lots of kids, although they are all over 5, I think. Not sure how they do it, but they do.

I originally came here when I was five with my family. My mother was a dentist from our country and she already had a successful practice but decided to give it up for the U.S. at the age of 42. She started working as a CNA b/c she also had a nursing degree. She enrolled in dental school for international students and finally became a dentist at the age of 45. While she was going to school, she was working and raised 3 children. Anything is possible!!!
