Im a humanities major and I will be missing the second semester of organic and math when i apply. Let's say Im able to do well on the mcat without it, will it be a big deal?
From my understanding, I would just have to take it before matriculation.

Also was anyone here accepted with more than one pre req pending?

Don't take the MCAT without completing o-chem. Bad idea.

You can be accepted prior to completing pre-reqs, as long as you complete them before matriculating. It behooves you to complete as many as possible before applying though.

I ended up taking the MCAT without taking two prereqs (including the second semester of Ochem) and got in the 33-35 range. (PM me if you want the exact score distribution, OP.) I had not been able to take those courses due to scheduling reasons, but I wasn't concerned since I knew that the ochem professors at my school were terrible.

I know a lot of people say not to take the MCAT without having taken the full year of Ochem, but I think it really depends on you. Take a look at the MCAT ochem books and see if you think you will be able to self-teach yourself the material. I have to say when I took the test, the Ochem stuff was the hardest part on it for me and I think the ochem questions may have slightly lowered my score on that bio/ochem section since the bio questions were not too hard for me. But that's just speculation.

Also for your other question, my transcript was missing two prereqs but I have acceptances. (Again, PM me if you want specifics.)

I took my MCAT and was accepted before Ochem 2. I also didn't have biochem. But I was a nontrad, so maybe they didn't care as much, since I was enrolled.

You can be accepted without the pre-reqs, but need to finish them before matriculating. That being said, most finish all their pre-reqs there first two years of college. If every accepted has all their pre-reqs done, the one who has one missing and needs it to take the MCAT will either be outright rejected and/or have a disadvantage on the MCAT. Some, very few do well on the MCAT - missing one pre-req or so, but as for entering med school - most have all pre-reqs done by the time they graduate.

Thanks. I feel I would be able to self study though.
This reply doesnt help me at all. I bet it took longer to wait for the reply page to load then to type this response.

Thank you for your helpful reply.
I will start by saying that I have self taught myself in just about every class. Not because the professors are horrible (many are though) but because i simply don't have time to attend lectures. I also have scheduling problems so will try to take it in a later date.

Awesome. Sounds good.

I see. I guess i'll be at a bit of a disadvantage then since i decided on premed a bit later than others.

Well, best of luck OP. Also keep in mind that you're going to have to spend more time preparing for the MCAT than most people, so modify your study plan accordingly.

Whatever. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Most of us could have spent more time than we did, so you aren't alone there. Anyone would be a fool to not prep according to his needs.

(There isn't that much OChem 2 stuff on the MCAT.)

To answer OP: I've been accepted and am currently enrolled in biochemistry which is a prereq for my school.

I didn't mean to sound condescending, so I apologize if what I posted came off that way. And yes, I think everyone would agree with what you've said. There might not be much o-chem on the MCAT, but the curve is so harsh that it's best to thoroughly cover all bases.

OP, I took the MCAT and was accepted to MD this cycle without orgo 1&2. I used Sn2ed's study schedule and was able to self teach myself what orgo was necessary for the MCAT (Scored a 13 on BS).

If your going that route, like others have said, just make sure you set aside enough time to adequately teach yourself. For me, that was an entire summer. Good luck!

I took the MCAT without taking physics II and was accepted before I had completed physics II or a second semester of English.

If you are still concerned, call your specific schools for more information.

What a helpful community sdn is. Idk why my friend told me it wasn't lol
