Anyone an active AMSA member?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
AMSA is a joke.

Says the pre-med?

It depends on your school's chapter. Our chapter of AMSA does quite a bit. Also, it's free for medical students to join and you get a rather nice welcome gift (Rohen's flash cards, which are very helpful for anatomy) and numerous discounts. I wouldn't call it a joke.

Yea, AMSA has zero presence at my school. I actually had to google who they were, hence how i found the meat scientists haha.

Yeah I figured it would vary from school to school. While the discounts and stuff are provided by the national organization, the individual school chapters are where the more direct benefits come. Granted, you don't have to be an official member to take part in the activities, but it's free and you get free stuff, so why not? 🙂

The undergrad here even has an "undergraduate chapter" of AMSA

👍 I can't remember if I got Netter's flashcards for free from joining AMSA or AMA. But since I already had them I sold them for extra $$.

Nice! Haha I think AMA gives Netters and AMSA gave a choice of Rohen's or a pathology review book. Kinda wish I had gone with the book as that's more usable for the long term, but I also got a lot of use out of the flash cards. Free is free! 🙂

I was sort of stuck, either way I was going to be selling the freebie 😀. What a predicament! Being the neurotic M1 about having the right resources, I bought the Netter's flashcards and RR pathology right before school started. I didn't use the flashcards all that much, and haven't used the RR path book yet (second summer term for me). My school has ebooks with Netter's included, so I read the crap out of that book instead.
