Anyone asked about Biochem on interview?

Hi,

I'm literally about to press "e-submit" and just freaked out that I should put Biochem in Planned courses. I really had no plans to take it... I don't have time for an extra class with my work schedule in the fall/spring, and I only chose to apply to schools that don't require Biochem. However, if it's the one thing that's going to hold me back from getting in, I'll suck it up and take it.

Was anyone accepted without biochem? Anyone asked about it on an interview? Thanks for any help!

shouldn't be a problem. most schools don't ask about specific classes during the interview... if there's a problem with prereqs, they may bring it up, but i wouldn't worry too much.

i remember one guy at our penn interview was asked what
alpha ketoglutarate was though...haha

Only a few schools require biochemistry as a prerequisite. But if you check out a few school websites, they will often state that they give preferance to applicants who've taken upper level division sicences.

If you're not applying to the schools that require biochemistry and if you've taken plenty of upper level division sciences already . . . I wouldn't worry about it.

Last year when I submitted, I put Biochemistry (I took this past semester) as planned(along with other upper divison bio classe) and it was not a problem.
Def, I'm glad I took it. Reminds me how little I actually know.

If you look at the first year courses for most dental schools biochem is one of the courses you will be taking your first year anyway. Of the few schools that do require biochem as pre-rec it is usually not a course given by that dental school. If you are applying to schools that do not require biochem as a pre-req then I wouldnt worry about it because you will most likely be taking it your first year of dental school anyway.
