has anyone applying this upcoming cycle purchased the 2009 ADEA official guide to dental schools or the adea minority students in dental schools books? is it actually worth the $35 and $10 (respectively)?
i think i've learned more from armorshell and jackbauer. so once i get into and/or attend UoP or maryland, i will most likely personally hand one of them $35. stay tuned for the exciting conclusion.

I just ordered it last night. I haven't received it obviously, but I'll update when I do.

i also ordered one last night...most people say its quite informative and easy to read.

Compared to the thousands of dollars you will spend on testing, transcripts, AADSAS, airline tickets, hotel rooms, and other misc expenses associated with this process $35 seems like nothing.

This guide is one of the most useful tools money can buy. I can't imagine having applied without it. Perhaps you can justify it by eliminating some schools you may have applied to once you realize that their program or criteria doesn't fit your wants/needs and application and therefore reduce your AADSAS cost and interview costs accordingly?

I have the 2007 and 2008 book and it is priceless! Best book to buy!

Check with your undergrad prehealth office and see if they have a free copy you can borrow. I just used sdn and predents and applied without the book.

I ordered last week and still haven't receiced the book. I'll call them.

I just got mine in the mail last week. It's amazing. I get all the information put together in easy to read tables and I don't have to go searching through 20 different school's websites. The first few chapters are breaks downs of how many people apply/get into schools, then its broken down into how many % of the people accpted to schools are instate and out of state and that helps to narrow down the list of schools. Then in the back, it has EVERYTHING about everyschool. I'm not even kidding, everything. I think it's worth it. Lots of useful info about different types of loans and other financial aid.

Edit: this is only some of the things in book. haha i didn't want to type out everything.

I agreed to the above statement and you get back the money for not applying to the wrong school (low acceptance)

BEFORE YOU OPEN UP YOUR AADSAS APPLICATION, read through this book. Either buy it or check your pre- health/dental/career office at your school, but for those of you who don't already know exactly which schools you want to apply to, this will come in very handy.

The box that says 'check off which schools you want your application sent to' was an early stumbling block on my app, because at the time i hadn't sat down and thought about which schools I wanted. I ended up wasting 2 application fees to schools I didn't want to go to.
