Anyone considered VA or IHS to pay for school?

How many people have looked into, or used these places as ways to pay your med school bills? Apparently, if you contract with them for year for year they pay for your school and u have to work at indian health services or veterans hospitals.

Has anyone done this? Are there other similar programs beside the military?

I am in the same boat. I dont really know where to get more info but i have heard that it exists. In anycase, ill be researching and if i find out more ill post here

Hey I found a site with some information, but its for missouri residents. Here is the url: http://www.smsu.edu/bms/programs/medscholarships.html
It has a couple of things about medical school scholarships as well as the places to get more info if interested. I will look for more on the VA thing!

The Public Health Commissioned Corps is the over arching organization and it is made up of Indian health service, etc.

- You have a lot of options, I wish I had known about these when I was going to OT school! And PHS is looking for OT's!
