Anyone do "study abroad" before applying to pharm school?

Hi. I would like to know if there's anyone out there that has studied abroad before applying to pharm school and how to include it on the PharmCAS application? Here is my situation: I went to Cambridge in England for some summer science program, I got like 2 credits (counted as elective credit) towards my major, and I doubt there is a transcript for me taking the summer program stuff... any thought on if I should or should not include Cambridge as its own entity under the "Colleges Attended" section in PharmCAS? Also there's something to with wes.com to get the foreign work evaluated? Almost wish I didn't go because it's making things complicated...Thanks for any help you can offer

since its science based, why not label it under extra curricular activity and discuss it in your personal statement? thats what I did with my study abroad but mine was only a couple weeks and i got 2 credits for it as well

I think you should contact whoever ran the program and see what other people have done in the past. They probably have some suggestions. You also might consider contacting the schools you are applying to and/or PharmCAS about it. It kinda sounds like the program was run through your school, so you might not have to worry about an extra transcript.

I love Cambridge by the way! I did some research there and it's a great place!

Well, is it too late to delete Cambridge from PharmCAS as a college that I attended if I've already e-submitted? Hopefully they aren't waiting on a transcript from there before calculating my GPA! oh noes.. did you only include it as extracurricular and did you not put the foreign institution you attended as a "College attended" (so no need to worry about a transcript from there)?

You're right, I should contact the lady who ran the program... I asked PharmCAS about it and they just told me to look at the PharmCAS manual, and I have (but I'm still confused). Perhaps I should call them instead. And how long were you in Cambridge for? It was such a neat place!

I was there for three months over the summer, and thankfully it was a pretty sunny summer. I was there during the last World Cup, so it was a lot of fun to see how crazy the Europeans go for soccer! Did you go punting?

heck yeah I went punting! but just once because I was not so good at it lol... but it was still a lot of fun

If you email PharmCAS they can remove it for you.. I made the same mistake of adding my study abroad school as a university I attended.

I went to University of Sussex in Brighton (southern England) for eight weeks. It was great! 😀

Oooh nice! I wish I could've stayed in England for 8 weeks too!

Well as for getting PharmCAS to delete my study abroad university, I tried doing that yesterday and the guy told me...oh you need to keep the "444444 foreign non-institution" college on your colleges attended section so then we know where your study abroad credit is coming from. And then I asked him if this will keep me from getting my GPA calculated since I don't have a transcript for it and I'm worried that PharmCAS will be waiting for it (but none exists). He said they'll still calculate my GPA even if there's no transcript to the foreign institution. 😕

But anynymoose you said they deleted it for you, so did they calculate your GPA and all with no problems?

Also, I asked the schools if they needed the foreign work evaluated (by wes.org) and they said if it's not a prerequisite course for pharm school then just having it on the home institution transcript is good enough. So that's a relief...
