Anyone doing undergrad at AZ state university?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Can anyone share with me how you like the school and your predental advisor? What's your major there?

Thank you.

I am a nontraditional applicant and I did my undergraduate work at ASU. Yet at that time I had not decided to persue a dental degree. So two of my letters of recomendation were from my science professors and I did not have a predental advisor. It is a good school from my stand point. It is is the 3rd largest school according to the number of students in the nation. So, some of your class sizes might be bigger than other places (I am not sure about the student to teacher ratio). I am a ChemE major so most of my upper division classes had my usual 30-40 students that I had every class with. It is also one of the most cost efficient schools to attend (out of state tuition is really low relatively speaking). I hope you enjoy the heat though!

Mudo,
Thanks for replying. All my science classes are 200 to 350 students. So going from that to 30 to 40 is great! 🙂 Heat is not a problem 🙂 I'm happy to hear you like the school.

Those classes with only 30 to 40 were my chemical engineering courses that had a graduating class size of 35. In the lower division courses, I had the same 150-250 students per class. I guess what I am saying is that it depends on your major.

I graduated from ASU last May. I was at the East Campus which is in Mesa, actually a few miles away from ASDOH. If you have a family they have student/family housing on campus - its not the greatest but its cheap and within walking distance to your classes. I liked it b/c it isn't the typical college campus environment and seemed to attract more non-traditional students. There are a several pre-health related degrees (nutrition, exercise and wellness, human health, applied biological science) at that campus and there are a lot of pre-dental students. Let me know if you have any more questions.

ASU doesn't really have any pre-dental advisors. I was better off doing things on my own. There is a pre-health professions office on the main campus but the first time I went there I seemed to know more about the application process than they did. On the East Campus, in the Nutrition Dept, they are very familliar with the application process as there are so many pre dent students in the program.
