there's a thread about twilight??

It's a thread that went off topic...look under the "Am I Alone?" thread 🙂
I'm a non-christian pre-vet but that really doesn't answer the OP's question, does it?
Whoever made the comment about the 'home team' really echoes my sentiment--In this country, there is still a christian majority, so I think it would be pretty surprising if the pre-vet demographic didn't reflect that.

True, but I don't think SDN is really a random sampling of any demographic...so, really, who knows?

Oh, I dunno...there's many "in name only" of many religions. Hard to say. And yes, I am one.

Just found it! Thank you, hahaha.
Oh, you must mean Scientology.

im not very religious.....BUT i know a vet school student that's VERY religious. she attends church regularly, she's really close to her pastor, and theres a christian vets club here and she's involved in it. she goes on retreats and concerts with christian bands.
Not I. I'm part of the (growing) minority.
I'll second that
me tooI'll second that
I'm absolutely a Christian.
Every vet school (depending on if there is anyone to run it) has a christian club called CVF- Christian Veterinary Fellowship, which is part of a bigger national organization called CVM- Christian Veterinary Missions.
There are quite a few active members at Auburn, granted we are in the south and there are many southern-styled christians down here 🙂 It's a great club, though, and they go on a lot of mission trips (local and international).

Sorry! I didn't mean to go off topic..I was just trying to lighten the mood 😛
Yeah, I'm actively Catholic.
I don't really find the question surprising... in the colleges I've studied at, practicing Christians are actually a small minority. It really depends on the demographic you're looking at.

Pastafarian and proud.
Wooo! I was hoping to find a member of the Church of FSM here. 'May we all feel the loving touch of his noodly appendage.' Ramen.

FSM is my life. My boyfriend and I hope to one day marry under his holy appendages...
ok, i'm lost... What is FSM? Is it a joke that i'm not getting?![]()
The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster...I also am a firm believer in the FSM 😀!
Here is the website for those interested in converting.

also, for those of you NOT Christian, what are you, if you don't mind me asking?
Catholic school made me agnostic leaning atheist. I literally can't bring myself to care.
flyhi- Im curious why you want to know about people religious beliefs. I do not support organized religion . It creeps me out.

agnostic secular humanist to be as exact as possible. I agree with nyanko as far as me not being able to actually care, I've got enough to worry about. If I did try to "believe" I know it would only be to save my own a** just incase'ies.

My parents were both raised religious but neither of them really took to religion so they didn't raise me in a religious setting... They always asked my brother and I if we were interested in church but we all find organized religion freaky. Basically I was taught to appreciate nature (in the most non-treehugger way imaginable). Other than that I just believe in forces of bad and good... that the power of thoughts can really determine certain things. That all makes me sound rather kooky! 😳 And I guess that makes me atheist.
also a FSM follower here 😉
born and raised atheist. i'm lovin' it.

I figure if I'm wrong, well I lead a good life so is god really going to reject me from heaven because I didn't believe in him? That'd be egotistical of him and from all accounts he's perfect, so he wouldn't have that flaw.
amen
Definitely christian here. Although at one point I had a conglomerate of wierd beliefs from like 12 different religions. Took me awhile to settle down, but here I am.
Oh, and if I had to pick an alternate religion....Flying Spagetti Monster would totally be it. 🙂

I like to think of myself as a deist, but I'm not philosophical enough.
I'm christian by birth and baptizing, but I don't practice and I'm not a strong believer or anything. Religion doesn't have a huge effect on my life.

athiest FSM lover.
For those of you who just heard of FSM, on the site make sure you read the letter http://www.venganza.org/about/open-letter/ written to the school board about teaching religion in schools. Its so great. Its the basis for how it was started and you def can't miss out on it.

Agreed. 14 years of Catholic school could ruin anyone.

Curiosity.😕 I find it interesting that so many here are not Christian since I feel like most people i associate with are (not that it's a topic of discussion or anything).
I was raised quasi-Catholic (baptized my bro not me, but we did the whole CCD thing) and i get some sort of literature, email, 'gift' at least once a month from a family member trying to make me 'see the light' or something...... 😱 And, i am certainly old enough to make my own decisions at this point. I would call myself a Christian, but i am not a Catholic.

I was agnostic before, but my Literature of the Old Testament class would do much the same thing.

!!!
How did I never hear about this? That's awesome. I may have to convert...
[Raises hand] I'm a Christian, and I would like to formally express my gratitude that this has not dissolved into a why-I'm-right-and-you're-wrong discussion 😀. Let's keep it that way, no? And for the record, I find the FSM quite entertaining, and when someone said "Ramen" above, it reminded me of that scene in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when the congretation said "Achoo" and the leader replied "bless you," which bore striking resemblance to some of the more puzzlingly ritualistic church services I've attended. End long tangent.

13 years of catholic education and I havent stepped into a catholic church out of my own motivation since. Anyone ever had a nun lock you in the closet for misbehaving? Bad bad memories....
I'd a Christian of the non-denominational variety.
I'm Jewish but not too strict on observances or anything. I don't keep kosher or anything. I, too, was raised catholic (dad's side) and didn't want anything to do with Catholicism when I was allowed to choose for myself.

Well I can't speak for others but I generally don't tell people I'm atheist in real life. I get LOTS of negative reactions when I do and it's just not worth it. I avoid the topic of religion all together. It's a damn bore when you're not talking about it to people who are open about it (I.E. the 'my way or the highway' religious folks).

Atheist here.
Baptised/raised mostly Catholic, by my mom. All my mom's side of the family is very Catholic. My dad is agnostic I guess? I stopped going to church by choice once I was 18 and allowed to make my own choices... but had been rebelling against it since I was about 7. I'd say about half of my close friends are religious/very religious, and the other half are "non believers"
I find that at college, people are a lot more open-minded about various religions/lack there of though, which is nice (or maybe it's because I'm going to school in the north east? Dunno). I'm not sure I'll be treated with the same acceptance come the "real world" when I'm working next year throughout vet school applications... we'll see.

I really *very rarely* get offended in a religious discussion (getting a bachelor's in religious studies at a big state university, kinda hard if you do get offended often!), but the FSM thing actually does offend me. I am a fairly co-exist, live and let live sort of Christian (some of my favorite books are unChristian and Lord, Save Us From Your Followers). If someone asks me questions, I don't mind talking about it. I am interested in dialogue because I think we can learn a lot from each other. But I don't go out of my way to mock anyone, but the FSM does just that. BTW, I don't support intelligent design, particularly as something that should be taught in schools and I also dislike religion getting overly involved in politics (personal beliefs will always influence someone's decisions, but over involvement is typically not a good thing) either. I guess I just dislike the attitude that you are somehow more intelligent and free thinking now that you have left that silly childish theism thing behind. That attitude is what offends me just as much as holier than thou Christians. Just a thought or two from a "free thinking" follower of Jesus. 🙂

Anyone else awaiting the Coming of the Great White Handkerchief?
Er... I actually can't remember if that was in the movie or not, but it was in the books. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the only book/series I've been able to read multiple times.
