Wierd..my first thread on sdn..

So i was accepted off the waitlist at SLU for 2014..its a great school, and I'd be happy to attend, but I'm still one the waitlist at 2 schools (Jeff and Einstein)..I'd gladly attend either of those two schools over SLU

SLU is great, i liked it there when i interviewed, but the only thing holding me back is the location..i'm an east coast guy, i'd like to stay within a few hours of here

ofcourse I knew that applying to SLU meant I might actually be accepted there and matriculate, but applying is a bit different than getting in..

SLU starts on August 8th, and I just don't know when to call it quits for the other schools..its already getting late..

Don't get me wrong, Im very grateful to have gotten in, but I feel like im more stressed now than I was before without an acceptance..

anyone else in the same boat?

Did SLU give you a deadline for accepting the offer of admission?

Bro, listen to the llama. Llama is wise.

IF you have a time frame, hang on for a little while if ya want, but dont push it. If I was you I'd play it safe and just go there.

Why?

Thousands apply and don't get accepted. Thousands re-apply and don't get accepted. You applied. You got accepted. This might be your only chance.

Unless, of course, you buy me a pizza right now. In which case I will make a phone call and you will recieve an acceptance at any med school of your choice.

I think it's a little late to be hanging on to that hope.
you should start preparing for next year at SLU

I doubt there's other acceptances coming your way at this point. Go for SLU

you can keep the waitlist but have your bags packed and a mode of transportation to the gateway to the west

When do all of these schools start?

I'd guess that you're going to end up at SLU and that your time and energy is better served stalking the SLU website and forums to get excited about the school so you feel positively about it when the time comes to go over there. You might want to check out housing too- I'm mostly an east coast girl myself and seeing how much more square footage I could get for my buck in places other than the big east coast cities was a nice way to quell some of those fears. So take a look at apartments in Center City vs whatever Einstein offers vs one bedrooms in St Louis and get excited.

But, if SLU starts pretty late, you can hang on a little bit more. A classmate of mine was invited to go to another school the first day of our orientation (the dean of admissions came to greet us on the first day and was like "so we have 111 students here...there maybe 110 tomorrow, but hopefully not") so it IS possible to get stuff that late but it's really really rare. More importantly, I think you're better off starting to look forward to SLU than stressing out over other options.
