Everybody I've met on SDN who's in Atlanta or GA (or the Southeast for that matter) is applying to Mercer this year but I haven't read about anyone else for UGA. All I do hear, however, is that it's extremely difficult (and it's duly noted).

I haven't submitted my application yet (They say it doesn't matter because they don't award interviews until after the Feb 1st deadline and they recieved Fall '08 grades) but regardless, I want to finish it in the next week or so (Transcripts & everything is sent but the actual application). Anybody else found any difficulty with the application? I'm going to give them a call later this week because one part is a bit vague.

A side tidbit. Their supplemental application's essay has a max of 400 characters including spaces!! That means this post I made is well over the limit (by about 300 characters). The question asks to "provide a personal statement as to what skills, talents, or abilities you possess that will be helpful to you in our program".

My problem is that I'm too verbose!

Ciao.

I am also applying to UGA, but not until next year. It is my top choice and Mercer is my second choice...but in reality, I will be extremely happy to get into either. 👍 Keep us posted about your applications!

going to apply there for P2 as a transfer ~hates it at wingate

I'm defeinitely hacking the thread, but what do you hate about Wingate so much that you want to transfer?

a lot of other people i talk to in at other schools in P1 dont know half the things i do but make better grades, get me thinkin the smaller the school the more control they have= harder or w/e, and they are new so they want to make a big name for themselves, other than that it just doesnt feel like college to me (too small)

just for the record, i am a p2 at wingate and i adore the program. it is definitely challenging, but i would much rather learn more than my friends at other schools but potentially get worse grades. grades aren't as important as what you take with you when you graduate and get yourself into the real world. AND if you work hard, it is DEFINITELY possible to succeed at wingate (gradewise), you just have to survive BSI 😉

wait, i just realized that you're not actually IN the pharmacy school as of right now - is that right? so why would you even go to wingate for your p1 year if you were going to transfer as a p2? i'm not understanding...

Ciao.
I applied to all three in GA. Mercer, South and UGA.

I already applied too. They average PCAT and GPA is really HIGH!!!..
I might have to retake PCAT in Jan to increase my chance for this school.

does anyone know why their pcat and GPA is so much higher. Is that a standard they set on paper or is it due to the fact that they will only accept ppl with those high scores? What do you guys think makes this school so competitive?

What do you guys think makes this school so competitive?

I believe the factors are the cheaper tuition for Georgia Residents and the prestige of the school. Now UGA is competitive for many programs in general and now is more competitive than GSU. Do they accept Jan PCAT? Do you know? I want to retake it because I want to increase my chance for UGA

Does anyone know when UGA is going to start interviewing?

I was going to apply to UGA but at the last moment I decided not to when I saw the percentage of out of state students they take (I am from Florida). I did apply to Mercer and got accepted but unfortunately it is just too expensive for me. I will still go if I don't get into UF but saving $10k per year is huge obviously. I really wish I could just go to Mercer :-(.

I am a florida resident too, and the tuition for public institutions really helps alot! I got into mercer so hopefully I'll see you there

So you aren't applying to UF? Why would you choose Mercer over UF when there is so much money saved? Just curious because I rather go to Mercer but feel forced to go to UF due to money issues.

Most people I talk to who go to UF honestly don't like it.

I did apply to UF. But there are still a few months before any final decisions have to be made, so hopefully I'll either see you at Mercer or UF.

The threads from last year say they didn't start interviewing until late Jan/early Feb. UGA takes their sweet time.
