What's up guys -

I'm wondering if anyone else here in DO land is applying (or has applied in the past) with a low gpa but high MCAT?

My GPA is a 3.3 (stupid, drunken, stoned freshman year) but I somehow pulled a 35 out on the MCAT.

Peace,
S

damn freshman year(s)-it's amazing how many A's it takes to raise that good time 0.5 avg to medical caliber.
Yeah, this past year I applied for the second time with a fresh and fat 2.9, coupled to a tight 36. First go round, 0 interviews-nice; This year I added some E.C.'s and that "special" masters from Georgetown you might have heard of around here; and I applied to DO schools.

So this time I actually got in to a couple places-
and well, though it looks like I'll be headed out to one of those establishments on the <cough> "other side of the fence", I would have been more than happy with some of the DO's.

you oughta be stellar (somewhat) with the 3.3-if you make it pass the gatekeepers, adcoms will actually spend the time to notice your great upwardly mobile trend.

good luck to ya

I had a bad junior year. Science 3.11 and overall 3.35. My MCAT was 28, which is not really high, but I guess it is above average for most of the DO schools. looks like your in pretty good shape with a 35, you will get in somewhere.

Check out the aacom.org web site for statistics. Many schools had an average incoming GPA of around 3.3 - 3.4 last year (including MD and DO schools) so I doubt a 3.3 with a great MCAT score is going to eliminate your chances of getting in.
