Anyone else doing it and confused?

I'm putting my grades in, but there's only one slot for physics so do I take the average of both semesters??

Also, is there a character limit to the personal statement? Thanks all

I put in the grades as comma seperated values.

For example, for physics I put A,A since the A's were in Physics I and Physics II, respectively.

I got in so I guess they were fine with it.

Can I ask what both of your stats are? I'm going to apply for Aug 2008 and just want to see how well I might do in the runnings. Thanks!

3.4 undergrad GPA, 3.7 graduate GPA, 30 MCAT

So my GPA is about 3.3 right now and I'm waiting to apply for Aug 2008. Would you reccommend waiting for winter grades (March 2008) or do it as soon as possible. I'm doing a medical internship at a hospital in Mexico in the fall, so I want to include that, but should I wait into March? Thanks!

Your GPA is fine as long as your MCAT is a 27 or higher so waiting for additional grades is up to you.

I would not wait until March to apply. I applied at the end of February and the August class was full by early May. That's how I ended up in the January 2008 class.

Since it will take time for them to review your file, schedule your interview, and make a decision on your application, you run this risk of having a full class by the time they decide.

At the latest, I would apply in December 2007 for August 2008.

That's perfect. I'll have about a month after my internship to do nothing but finish my application. Do admission commitees generall enjoy personal stories from internships? What about very personal traumas? All of these things factor into my wanting to be a physician, but how do i know where to draw the line for this type of statement?

You can include it in your personal statement or in your optional essay.

However, I would only mention the story if it directly contributed to your deisre to go into medicine. Adcoms typically don't want to read a lot of fluff and they can usually tell if someone is BS'ing them.

BTW - I don't think you'll need a month to fill out the application. I filled mine out in about 3 days.

I have alot of trouble writing essays. It'll probably take me two weeks at least to do that part of it. I'll try and get quite a few proofreaders for it. Who did you have as you LORs? I have a family doctor friend whom I work with so I'll want him to write one mainly, but who else?

2 Science letters (virology and immunology professors), the dean of the public health school where I did my MPH, and letters from 2 physicians that I did research and published several papers with.
