So it’s been a month since D1 year started and I feel like I should have been more on top of it from the get-go. There’s classes I’m actively studying for but there’s classes like gross anatomy that I’m holding off until midterm exam which I can’t do anything about. Coming in I also thought of wanting to specialize but now I’m just trying to stay afloat. Anyone feeling what I’m feeling or managed to get back on track?

I also felt that way at the beginning, just keep studying my guy. You’ll have a better idea of where you are comparatively after the first round of exams. If you aren’t doing as well as you’d like try to figure out why. I switched to making anki cards for all my lectures and review them regularly. That really helped me personally. Other people are more visual learners and draw out lots of diagrams, some listen to the lectures a few times. It’s all about finding what’s the best thing for you.

Regardless of how cool and smart everyone is pretending to be you’re all in the same boat. No one came in prepared for this amount of material.

D1 crushes a lot of pre-specialist’s aspirations. My lab mate stopped talking about specializing right after the first exam
