Anyone else finding problems with Barons?

I just took some practice test from Baron's, and I found a number of problems as I was taking it with typos. When I was done correcting my test, I went back to look at which ones I had gotten wrong, and I swear that some of the answers they gave are NOT right.

I vaguely remember someone saying something about a catalyst question from barons that was also on the Kaplan test and how they had different answers...was it beagle??

Anyways, for clarifications sake, I have a couple of questions for whoever thinks they know them:

1) Which of the following vessels carries oxygenated blood?

A) Pulmonary Artery
B) umbilical Artery
C) thoracic duct
D) umbilical vein
E) hepatic vein

The key says 'A', but I learned the night before in my kaplan lecdture that the umbilical vein carries oxygenated blood. I also remember that from a physiology class. Which of you biology majors out there knows the answer?

There were a couple of other bad questions, but I think I got 'em figured out.

I totally agree portlander. I took one of their practice tests yesterday and it said in one of their answers that "requiring energy for transport" and the answer was passive transport. Thats def not right! It also had a couple of other answers I had problems with...from what I've heard w/others also, the Barron's book isnt great....good thing I borrowed it from the library instead of buying it! 🙂 🙄

oh, and A is def not right because pulm artery carries deoxy blood from heart to lungs!

use barrons for a quick review, it is very concise and to the point. However, I think the main advantage of barrons is that there are so many questions wrong that you use your head rather than what the book says. Kaplan has several or many wrong answers too, but everyone trusts Kaplans. So I think it is doing you a favor.

Passive transport does requires Energy, so I don't think that answer is wrong Seema, but u might wanna double check, as it is been long since I took Bio, and also about Pulmonary Artery, I think that answer is right too, but again, please double check as I am not quite sure....

no, arteries carry oxygenated except the pulmonary which carries deoxy from heart to lungs....for sure i know this....

and passive transport is just that...passive...active transport was a choice, so if it requires energy, its active....

Why are you so concerned about predicting my score? Bumping up beagle's thread to find out her score? I only asked you your gpa that one time cause YOU are always asking for people's stats yet are not willing to share your info...whatever, its getting kind of ridiculous so I had to speak my mind. 🙄

Stop being childish vixen, I wasn't the one who bumped up Beagle's thread. Dent 2002 replied, and I mentioned that she was taking her DAT today...besides me and her discussed the DAT via PM so I think I was being courteous to her. And for your information I do share my information. If you don't remember all those PM's you sent me about advice, I took a **** load of time to reply to them. well if other people have questions they can ask me and I will answer them. When I take my DAT and know what schools I'm applying to for sure I will post up my STATS.

Here is what they look like right now

3.65 GPA/3.52 science

majors: Neurobiology and Asian Languages and Literature

Applied to 17 schools, but will narrow down.

Publications: 1

DAT: End of this month

Interviews: 2, one letter received one expecting. Will post when I know for sure when I'm going.

I know it's high stress, so I'm just going to count to ten and chill.

The way you feel is so untrue, I am kind of shocked that this is the way you think.

well i dont want to argue (arent we already?) but when people personally PM or IM me upset about something and feel like you are keeping eyes on people's grades etc, then I think I should say something...maybe I shouldn't? All I know is that I am not the only one who feels like this and and I felt like speaking my mind....

sorry if this post is stressing you out, but I really do feel this way. I totally appreciate the help you've given me and the exchanges of advice, but I felt like I had to say something because it was bothering me as well as others....

I think everyone on this thread is infatuated with other peoples application and you can't say you aren't, either. You just stated that "Other people" feel the same way, but isn't that putting words in other peoples mouths?

The whole basis of this forumn is so other people can utilize the knowledge given from other's experiences. Give and take, that is the philosophy of this forumn.

I understand why you might be upset, but as Gavin said you illustrate your life and what is going through your life very clearly so everyone assumes or thinks they know you. So if I utiilized that knowledge in the negative way, I apologize.
