Just wondering if every applicant receives secondaries from UCI... Anyone else?

Just got it, UC's do screen. What's this about having to attach that form to letters of rec or they wont take em, what if I use a letter service? Can any past UCI applicants weigh in on this LOR issue?

And ya, my letters are being sent via letter service as well. I would like to know what should be done for the attachment.

If you guys mean that confidentiality form for letters of rec....i don't think you need to attach it. I didn't use it. I was actually an undergrad at uci and used their letter service, which has you sign a confidentiality form anyways with each letter of rec submitted to the service. Didn't have any problems with UCI med when the packet was sent through the service. I did include the form though when I had an additional letter of rec sent later on separate from the packet.

I did not use their letter of rec form. Mine went from a letter service (U of Arizona) and I had no problems. I think you only need to do their form if you did not sign a confidentiality statement with your letter service.

Wow, you guys are so ahead... I was accepted to UCI earlier this year but I didn't even have the secondary turned in until the very end of November. 😀

It should. You'll probably get secondaries from all the UCs on your numbers alone; the rest of your application will likely determine whether or not you get the interviews. 🙂

Secondary? Yes! Interview/acceptance? That's another story.

My friend had a 32/3.7 and didn't get a single CA interview. Sad, really.

yeah. youll get it for sure. dont sweat it at all.

TURN IT IN ASAP, UCI is one of the first ucs to give interviews. they are pretty quick. good luck. trust me, right away!

i just got my secondary too. i got both emails within half hour of each other. i don't know how their screening work though.

Yea I agree with Zot...almost everyone gets secondaries, not that many people get interiews and fewer get acceptances. For example, SF gets 5000 applicants, 1000 get secondaries, 500 get interiews, 250 get in, 140 start school every September. Just keep calling the adcoms to find out where you are in the process...AND BE PATIENT!

So filling out the classes thing, I've realized I have a problem. I took two physics classes, one at my home institution and one at summer school. My home school only gives 3 credits for the physics class, even though it also included the lab. (I did get 4 credits for the summer one.)
So this means I only have 7 credits instead of 8. What do I do?

I'm pretty annoyed, because I know that before I graduated they ended up changing our physics class to make it 4 credits, so everyone after me is fine.

How should I fill out on the secondary? Kind of pointless if they're just going to throw it in the garbage... Think I can explain elsewhere that technically it had a lab etc etc?

look at your amcas course lists. it's a 3/2 ratio.

5 quarter units = 3.3 semester; 4 quarter = 2.7 semester; 3 quarter = 2 semester; 2 quarter = 1.3 semester.
