Hey folks, i think i've got mumps. my right salivary gland is swollen and my ear hurts. my throat is really sore and i've been running a low grade fever the past two days. is anyone else down with these symptoms? i read online that its probably mumps.

Its actually going around in the southeast to... My mom got it. But most people should be immune to it considering it became a vaccine given in your first 6 months of life starting in 1967 i think

see your doctor-mumps is parotiditis-you might have a salivary duct stone, or a dental problem-you can diagnose acute mumps by getting a mumps igM antibody-if you had 2 mmrs, you should be immune.

Not true, the MMR has always been contreversial as to how effective it was. The eariler you got the vaccine, the less effective it may be, so if the OP is 26+, the vaccine might not have been that effective. ps. i'm pre-med just randomly looking at the pre-dent forum.
O, and if the OP is a male, get that treated fast. In adult mumps cases, its not the face that swells as much as the ...."cough and turn"..... so you may become sterile if you do have it.
