anyone ever work for united health group (uhg) as a consulting pharmacist?

ive been looking for full time work for almost 2 years now, i recently applied to a couple hundred places online in person etc... i stumbled across this job:

they called me like 2 days after i applied and offered me a job. i had no formal interview, just a 15 minute phone call where they asked a few basic questions. im afraid the whole process was just too easy. if it sounds almost too good to be true it is right? anybody work for these guys? whats wrong with them? i cant find any info on UHG pharmacy jobs on the internet. any info would be appreciated.

One of my techs applied with them and they sent him an e-mail to complete some questionnaire to complete online that took about 2 hours to complete. They then contacted him to come in and do some assessment tests and then they asked him to come back for an interview, which he passed that, and they asked him to come back for a final interview with the head manager and then they offered him a job...

Not sure what the hiring process is for pharmacists, but that was his experience when he applied to be a pharmacy technician.

They are expanding big time. They have taken all thier PBM business in house. They dropped Medco and are transfering the 11 billion dollars in accounts over to the own PBM OptimRx. Its projected to be at least a 50% increase in business.

The word on the street is they are a ****ty company to work for. There is an office in Plano, Texas that employees quite a few nurses and what I have heard is it is miserable. Of course the pharmacy side could be toatlly different.

I worked there as a tech before I went to pharm school. It was hell, but it looked like an easy job for the pharmacists. All they did was sit at a desk verifying rxs. The techs bore the brunt of abuse from the outside world. I actually applied there when I graduated but somehow they screwed up my app and offered me an interview for a position as a tech, and by then I had received another offer elsewhere.

the gal on the phone i spoke to made it sound like a call center job as a pharmacist doing prior auths with doctors and speaking to patients. some of the reviews made it sound like they only care about how fast you get people off the phone and not on whether or not you take care of their problems. for the guy who worked there as a tech did it seem like the pharmacist were happy? pretty laid back? dare i say get lunches?

They seemed pretty happy to me. Yes, you get lunches there, and the benefits were good even for a tech (better for pharmacists).

I never knew how pharmacists were rated by the company but I'm sure they have their metrics and I'm sure time (not) spent on the phone is one of them. I'm very fast at typing rx's so I never had a problem, but I'm sure some people did.

yes... i have been part time for almost 2 years now. i vary from 20 to 30 hours a week depending on the season. my company called me into their corprate offices 2 weeks before christmas in 2010 and told me that starting january 1rst that id be part time. i guess im lucky to be part time. my company laid off over 50 pharmacists in my disctrict. that month. so fast foward to today... there is no jobs around here so i recently got my ca license hoping to find a job back home in socal.

I worked there previously as a consulting pharmacist and now work in the clinical department. Consulting pharmacist basically works in a call center taking calls that are screened by customer service reps that determine if a patient needs to speak to a pharmacist.

You're typically working with Part D mail order patients so you'll get a lot of questions about what a drug is for, tablet ID, side effects, generic alternatives, etc. There are metrics involved including time it takes you to handle a call and time it takes you to document. I think they recorded 4 random calls a month and graded you on customer service and being able to answer a question clinically. There was a monthly 1:1 with the supervisor where I had to sit and listen to a previously recorded conversation with myself and a customer to see if I handled the situation appropriately. All this was over a year ago so things might be different now, but I know they are hiring quite a bit due to recent growth in the company.

Hey guys.. wanted to know if anyone had more information or experiences(yours or other ppl) to share regarding UHC Pharmacist roles.

They seem to be hiring contract pharmacists for 6 months again like last year.. Positions are for consulting and part D..
This is for the Southern California region.. Irvine & Cypress.. Any insight would be great!! Thanks in advance..🙂
