Anyone familiar with postgraduate program at Howard Univ?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do they basically take only african american just as the undergraduate program does? thanks

I'm not sure if you're talking about GPR, OMFS, ortho, pedo or aegd, but the answer is no.

Also, it is a HUGE misconception that Howard only takes African Americans and when the word minority is tossed around it is assumed to mean African Americans. I know a bunch of Howard students due to my involvement in national student gov positions and in every class of roughly 70 students, about 40% are African American (maybe less).

Hmmm...definitely not the case...

ADEA "Official Guide to Dental Schools" pg. 30:

Howard University - Class Entering Fall 2010
80 Enrollees
43 M/37 F
Af Amer: 55
Hisp: 4
Nat Amer: 0
Asian Amer: 10

55/80 --> 68.75%

Previous years are very similar.
Also, the average DAT is around ~17 with an average GPA of ~3.1 and ave age of 29.
The school definitely caters to a certain population...

I don't have any data on specialties but if you are that curious it should be too hard to get...

I'm actually talking about the class of 2011-2014. Also, the data is not totally accurate because the students that are "Black" in color as well as those with immediate African (both parents moved here from Nigeria) or north african origin usually all fall under the category of african american. Which means, for example, that a person born in America of Egyptian or Algerian decent would be considered "African American".

The class of 2013, for example, has roughly 10-15 African Americans out of 68.
