Has anyone here who graduated from Boston University in the past few years when right into practice after graduating? I'm referring to people who are first generation dentists and just felt confident enough to practice after finishing dental school there. I'm just afraid from the lack of clinical experience that I've seen on these threads. Thanks again!

I took a look at this before, but I was just wondering if anyone else had some input specifically about the residency question.

I graduated about 2.5 years ago from BU. I went straight to opening an office.

Don't judge the lack of clinical skills on what others say on these threads, that's the craziest thing I have ever heard.

Just focus on working on yourself, and the clinical training BU is providing, you are paying a fortune for it anyways.

I absolutely agree with what you're saying. That's why I'm trying to focus my attention on individual experiences rather than "stories of friends". Did you have any dentist who helped you out with the process or you just felt confident enough to practice clinically? Thanks again.

I associated at a dental chain office (Aspen Dental) for about 6 months while my office was getting ready, and I learned a lot during those 6 months from senior doctor and an oral surgeon who graduated from Tufts many moons ago, but was at the top of his game.

The biggest thing I walked away from that experience was learning everything from ground to crown; how to manage staff and run an office through the office manager, and how to treatment plan very efficiently through senior doctor, and how to do oral surgery (within GP scope) and medical related cases through the oral surgeon.
