Pre req's are your "premedical required courses". For almost all schools this is
1 yr general chem
1 yr organic chem
1 yr bio
1 yr physics

Some schools also have an English requirement, though most don't. As long as you take those courses at your school, you should have no problem.

(It sounds like you might want to be on the pre-allo forum though. If you're still in school, that's where you want to be!)

I'll be transfering there in the fall.. But I live in Louisville.

pre-allo? whats that? and im in school but ill be working on my BA this summer. So let me get this right..
You get an associates..
Then you get your Bach.. (you can get those in whatever area you want if im correct)
Then what?? anothe 4 years of pre med classes then 4 years of med school??

ky is a personal lubricant.

You'll need:
Chem 201-202 & 207-208
Chem 341-342 & 343-344
Biol 240-242 & 244
Phys 221-222 & 223-224

Some schools require Math 205 (Calc 1), and Chem 445 (Baby Biochem)

PM me if you want any more info on UL.

Question??? Do i need to take pre-med classes if I have a BA degree?

PM....Is that private message? so the classes you named off.. how many classes is that actually? is that like a class plus a lab?

yeah... however i also live in KY. might wanna change that...

is pre-med a lot of work? i understand 32 hours to be very time consuming. how many semesters would that be?

To the OP (original poster, if you're wondering) 32 hours is about 2 semesters (assuming that you take 16 credits each semester)-- so yes, it is quite a bit of work, but then again, so is the whole "going into medicine" thing.

"pre-allo" refers to those premed students that are considering the allopathic medical schools where you receive your MD. There's also a "pre-osteo" forum for premed students discuss matters pertaining more towards osteopathic medical schools where you get a DO. The difference b/t MD and DO is largely a matter of philosophy (but there are tons of discussions if you want to learn more). In the end though, MDs and DOs are both doctors that have the same rights and privileges when it comes to securing a patient's health (this is a very brief synopsis- again, there are tons of details in other discussions).
So- pre-allo and pre-osteo students are premeds working on their 4yr degree. It's just a minor distinction.
