Tucson's not bad. I don't live near campus, nor am I taking undergraduate courses (with the exception of an organic chemistry lab), so I can't really be of too much help if you want to know about campus life.

It could be a big adjustment coming from LA, simply because Tucson is much smaller, but I'm sure you could manage.

anyone else? give me your feed backs please

Tucson isn't the greatest for post college jobs but I love it here. If you're into greek life you'll like the campus...they're pretty big.

It's a nice campus.

The education is what you make of it. Plenty of opportunities to do just about anything.

It's a state school so you have a large range of intellectual abilities and types of people on campus.

Overall, it's a real neat place to be. I will miss it for sure.

The move from LA to Tucson will be a shock though...I think we have about 1 million people in the entire county. Maybe 600k in the "city".

If you like football, you'll love it here, awesome team  just make sure you come to the game trashed or else you won't fit in with the other students.

You could always transfer back to LA if you don't like it. It's your life and you wouldn't want to regret it either way. It is generally an extremely welcoming campus and there is a club or sport or something for EVERYBODY. It's rediculous all the strange clubs that exist. But they exist because people are into strange things...but it's cool because if fosters that connection.

When you get here, go to the predental meetings and introduce yourself as a transfer from LA and I'll know who you are.

Moving from LA to Tucson is like....wait I wont say it..haha

I've never been to Tucson, so I can't give a good answer about the area. But they have a decent school over there. 😉

Going from LA to tucson is gonna take a while to adjust to. If i were you Id make the trip one hour north to tempe. Im seriousely gonna miss ASU if I end up getting into dental school next year.

Are you an out-of-stater ASU student? I'm a native, and I can't wait to finally leave AZ.

any of you peeps from Arizona staying there to go to school? at the new dental school?

No actually I was born and raised here in arizona. I guess the thing im gonna miss most about ASU and phoenix in general is the hot girls. I would love to stay here for dental school but I dont think thats gonna happen.

why wont it happen?

Well i know they are really big on community service and I dont know if I have enough community service for their standards. Also its a private school and I believe they take around 70% of their class from out of state. Although if I dont get in this year I'll have a better chance of staying in arizona next cycle when midwestern opens up.

i see waht you mean, i have tons of EC's and my grades are not that good but i still got an interview. plus i am from NM where we dont have a school and i know they want to keep kids in from the southwest in the southwest, is this stuff whwat you have heard??

One of my buddies from school is the president of the dental club at ASU and they do a lot of events in partnership with ASDOH. Hes spoken with the admissions people numerous times and they always stress community services. They look at community service just as much as your DAT scores and GPA. The stats I got were from the 2006 cycle over on predents. The acutal numbers were 27% (15 students) from arizona and 73% (39 students) from out of state. As far as keeping the southwest kids in the southwest I havent heard too much about that.

I wouldn't transfer to ASU over UA...It's not much of a change coming from LA to Phoenix. I realize PHX is still smaller and less crowded than LA but you're still going from a very large city to a large city. If you're going to make the move, make the move to someplace different. Tucson, is nice and small compared to the phx-metro area.

In terms of school difference? I'd say they're about the same. UA has far better campus scenery I'd say...there is no argueing that!

haha, if this president is the same ASU pre-dent president I met a few years back, that kid is crazy! What a spaz!

No, it's someone new pretty much every year. This year's pres is a good guy.

yeah hes not a spaz by any means. Your right about u of a's campus bieng nice. Its just about the only place in tucson besides the foothills that looks "nice". If tucson didnt have the u of a it would be a larger version of nogales. I think your wrong about transferring to somewhere totally different. That would make the transiton really hard especially if your moving from a city like LA and if you want a glimpse of asu 's "scenery" pm me and i'll give you a couple links you can check out.

generally speaking, isnt ua a better school than asu? is asu like the csu of ca and ua the uc of arizona?

In state rivalries aside, they are approximately comparable. It kinda depends on what major you want.

Yeah....will a psych major at UA get a better job than a psych major at ASU??

No. Depends on the major and what the individual did with their time and the opportunities presented.

I bet I know biochem just as well as any ivy league kid. They just get more opportunities for enrichment. I bet most don't even take advantage of it.
