I have recently been offered acceptance to UDM. The admission letter says that the offer is contingent upon improving or maintaining my current GPA, which I am pretty worried about because my final year's grades, after careful estimation, would be moderately lower (by about 0.1) than previous years'. I wonder if this would cause them to withdraw the offer after I submit the final transcripts. Is the admissions office really strict about the above statement?

Thanks!

I think this is aimed at candidates who are considered to be 'borderline'. At most schools, the expectation is that you receive a C or better in all classes post acceptance. If any of your grades fall below a C, you might have reason to be concerned. If this doesn't give you peace of mind, then just call and ask.

See you this fall...unless, of course, you get a D. JK

Thanks for your reply! I don't think receiving a C or better in all my courses this term would be a problem for me. But I expect to get a bunch of B's. :scared:

May I ask does your admission letter mention anything about improving or maintaining your present grades?

Yes, it sure does. Honestly, I think you're reading into the letter too much. It is pretty common for many to get 'spring fever' at this stage of the process. It would take a really bad term for them to reconsider your acceptance. A lot of B's should be adequate...while all C's might raise a few eyebrows. I'd say you're fine. See you in the fall. 👍

Thanks, JamieMac! I am much eased now. Wish you a great summer! 👍

P.S. I like how you call it a "spring fever". 🙂
