I went to SUU in Cedar City for a year and a half. Just finishing up here in Georgia now and then I'm off to MCG in August. Kinda miss Utah but not too much.
apparently Iowa and Creighton are the place to go for utah-types. we have 13 in our class (of 76) at Iowa and I know creighton has some deal that you get reduced tuition if you're from utah and guarantee that you go back there when you're done.
I'm not from Utah, but I was amazed at how many Utah applicants I met on my interviews. I went on 10 interviews ALL ON THE EAST COAST and I managed to meet at least 1 at every interview except @ UPENN.
It seems like there are some East coast schools that heavilly recruit from Utah specifically. Check out VCU (Virginia), Temple, and UPitt (I think).
10% of my D1 class is from Utah....... well, really that's the Mormon group, but the majority are from Utah. Oh, and I go to Ohio State...... apparently out of staters can get in-state tuition if their spouse is employed full-time, etc.
Anyway, I know that wasn't your question, but i though you'd be interested in the tidbit of info 😀
I can honestly say that Arizona is (or will be?) a superior school when compared with Marquette or Case.
The curriculum is superb when compared to the traditional methods, the facilities are splendid, and the staff was an absolute pleasure to work with. Since my interview, I've spoken with the director of admissions on several occasions. He has called me a couple of times to see if there was any way he could make the acceptance decision process smoother or easier for me. That kind of attention was not had from any other school.
You should have kept that Dec. 20 interview. Perhaps you would not have liked the school (I find it hard to believe), but you'll never know what might have happened.
Besides, I'm a little computer geek, so I'm all for the wireless network running throughout campus, etc., etc. I'm also all for attending a school that is surrounded by orange groves 🙂. Free orange juice.
Don't worry about it. My mind is often elsewhere these days. The last semester of college, coupled with the joys of being a father, causes me to misplace the majority of my thoughts.
