any one get an email informing them to apply for the army scholarship for med school? this is making me feel uneasy cause i told amcas and mcat people not to make my information available to solicitors.

the email congratulated me on taking the august mcat, but ive taken it twice before, and this is the first email ive received like this.

maybe my school im going to next year, COMP, gave them my email?

im just a little paranoid due to all the internet scams out there. call and give them all my info then they id scam me, that would be a horrible way to start med school!

No.

You are the only one.

oh yeah, you are gonna make a great doctor 🙄

like i said, this is the first time i received this type of solicitation in 2 rounds of applying and 3 mcats. just thought it was unusual i only got it this time thats all.

I have got them at least 3 times, and snail mail as well. The fun thing about them is they congratulate me for the August MCAT, the prob is I did not take the test in Aug, I took it in April, even their info is wrong, I would not sweat them

I think that the Army and Navy solicit everyone who meets a minimum score criteria. I got info from them after the MCAT, and have recently gotten info from all three branches sent thru schools.

I am on Army Scholarship and all you have to do is check the email to see if it is ligit or a scam. If the email address says army.mil at any point than it is not a scam. That is a secure link that is reserved for the Army. Much like Navy and Air Force would too. Hope that helps.

Hey, I got a mailer from the New York School of Podiatry even though I asked them not to give out information. 😱

I got the email, then replied and they gave me a number. I called and have talked to them a few times, although I'm still very hesitant to take the scholarship. Not because of scam concerns, just because, hey, it's the military!

If you knew idiopathic's board scores, you might not be so quick to judge

Everyone gets that email. If you're interested in the program go talk to the local recruiter... but believe me, if you do that, you'll be getting a lot more than just emails from them.

Also, there is a military medicine forum in the PGE section. You could get some first hand info from those guys.

Good luck,
S

I got this email again today! It is the 5th time that I have recieved this email, and it is getting to be annoying. Maybe they recruit more in certain areas?

S

and high board scores mean that you wont be a sarcastic ass or something?

thanks everyone for sharing your experiences.

I got an email from the Navy a few weeks ago...I replied to the email and the recruiter emailed me back saying that he would call me that evening...I still haven't heard anything. I have no idea how they got my email address...no one else at my school that I know of has gotten the email.
